I find the report to be pretty accurate. I test drove the Tacoma many times before deciding what new mid size to purchase. I went away with much of the same impressions.

    - no seat adjustments
-forward visibility issues due to long hood and low seating position.
-engine/transmission combination that left me with a uninspired feeling

The reports conclusion of pretty much sums it up.
"There is a sense of simplicity, honesty, and authenticity to the Toyota Tacoma. It is plainly and clearly a truck, one built for difficult work and vigorous play, and it isn’t trying to be anything else. You get the sense that it will withstand significant abuse and last for what seems like forever.

At the same time, at least in TRD Off-Road trim and used in suburban California as a daily driver, it is soul-crushingly uninspiring to drive. Unless you plan regular adventuring well off of the beaten path, you will potentially be better served by a different version of the Tacoma.

This forum supports the conclusion. Many have asked ways to raise the seat. The new "ShiftSense Pro" to improve shifting seems to be a hit with many to improve performance.

The Tacoma is not a bad truck. It is just not for everyone.

Yet.. .somehow none of this kept you from buying one. :notsure:

Is this a reflection on your ability to make good judgment calls? Or do you just have a bad case of buyer's remorse?

    Genuinely curious

http://www.chevroletproblems.com/tsbs/Colorado/2016/ the 2016 tacomas main#1 competitor has 131 TSB s out compared to only 7 TSB s for the 2016 Tacoma that in it self will tell you about how bad the competitors quality and reliability is.

JD power was about right with the 3rd gen. The engine/transmission combo, just feels like a step backwards.

As usual, El capitan is posting dishonest bullshit, clipping the quote so it reads very differently from what the article says. Scumbag.

    Here's the full quote.

    OP is a bullshitter.

Explore with it a little more, instead of just leaving it in D use S mode and ECT if you think it needs more response.

    downloadfile.jpg

Even the owners manual recommends it and to use D for when you want best fuel consumption although that might be relative, I seem to get better fuel consumption in S5 under 65mph.

Elcapitan said "some kind of sensor" left him stranded. It was the cps. Great knowledge of vehicles he has.
Just the kind of dude you want to take notes from.
He's just bent out of shape he got shafted on the sale of his 4 banger and had a couple of snowflake issues everyone else deals with and gets on their life with.

http://www.chevroletproblems.com/tsbs/Colorado/2016/ at this rate the Tacoma has nothing to worry about in the mid size truck market since Colorado/canyon is it main competitor has 131 TSBs already and growing.

Complaint rates from the same site seems about equal compared to volume of trucks sold. TSBs are recommended procedures for repairing a vehicle. You can look at the number in multiple ways. 1. the way you did indicating a crappy truck, or 2. the truck is newer to the brand and GM is acknowledging the problem and providing instruction to techs to fix issues.

Not trying to troll, but cherry picked data can be used to tell whatever story you want. I think both the tacoma and twins are good trucks.
