Mine were in-channel. The adhesive was fairly strong. I just muscled them out slowly. They were cracked, so I wasn't worry about them breaking.

Just did this on my Taco a few weeks ago as mine were 15 years old and cracked / broken. Watched the same video as well. Easy to get off but the adhesive was a fucking pain to get off. I tried GooBeGone and it didn't do anything. In the end I used my finger nail and a rag to scape it off over a few days. Finally tried some WD40 on it and it seemed to help.

Started the process last night. Definitely way more of a pain in the ass than I assumed it would be. When it gets light out I'm going to attempt to finish it all today. Soaking Goo Gone on paper towel and letting the paper towel rest on the residue for a few minutes seems to loosen it up a bit.

GooGone is best when you can apply liberally enough that it doesn't run, stays wet and leave for about 5-10 minutes so the solvents can loosen whatever is on there.

I've used GooGone to take Plasti-Dip off wheels when it stuck. It has to work into the substance you are trying to remove.

I waited until it was a pretty hot summer day and then used fishing line behind them like in the video and slowly worked them off. It took a while but with some Goo Gone on there it helped. Also if you know anyone with an eraser wheel to get off any stubborn glue that will work really well.
