I own both, new Tacoma and new Colorado....

So I have a 2016 Tacoma and a 2017 Colorado. I won't repeat what everyone already knows about the transmission issues with the Tacoma, bottom line I have the typical shifting issues. The Colorado just rolled over 5000 miles and yesterday the check engine line came on and it now refuses to change out of third gear. So basically I have two new midsize trucks in my driveway with transmissions that I feel like we're made in the 1980s Soviet Union. I don't understand why apparently nobody can design a working transmission in a midsize truck. It was possible ten years ago. What happened? It's possible in midsize SUVs. My wife's highlander drives and changes like a dream. Why, when they put a bed on it and call it a truck do they have to put a crappy transmission in it?

 

Normal for the Turd gen based on my experience.

Back in 1994, I had a brand new GMC Sonoma that did the same thing with less than 500 miles on the odometer. Wouldn't shift out of second gear. Turns out the wire harness going to the ECM melted. Dealer replaced the harness and it worked fine after that.

Midsize trucks interiors were not designed for the "overly hefty" people of today. I would think the fast food establishments would be surrounded by large trucks capable of carrying their consumers. The Ford Crew cab interior is especially spacious for the extra hefty....
