Having a heck of a time trying to wire up these on 2013 Tacoma. Got the white side working with the "open/close" with the doors or fob, but pulling out my hair(the few I have left) trying to get the running lights(amber) to light up. The lights are designed to have the white as dominate, so if the white is on the amber won't light. The bar has 4 wires..White for courtesy, yellow for amber, red for turn signals(don't want that feature) and black for negative. I also installed a SPDT on the white so I can turn them on with the doors closed. I used the Blue wire in the A pillar for the dome trigger, and like I said the courtesy lights working like a charm. Thinking I might need a relay or diode on the negative wire? If I hook the black/yellow to battery they light, so I know the lights are working... just how exactly do I share the negative is the question. Searched the forum/web yet can't seem to get a handle on this. Thanks....

OK.... gave up...went with the "brighter" amber running lights on a switch...still there has to be a way to make these work correctly....Yet to figure it out...but will continue to try, because I can......

Just wondering if you ever got these to work. I installed these on my dad's 2013 today. Was able to get the running lights and turn signals to work, but could not figure out the white lights. You say you used the blue wire in the A pillar. Did you have to connect to any other wire to make the white lights work, or was that it? I used a test light on every wire in the A pillar and couldn't figure it out. Very frustrated right now. Any advice or help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

On my 06, the dome light switches ground to illuminate. But you need a solid ground to make the others on the bar work.
I would use a 2 pole relay or 2 standard Bosch relays to control the white light. This relay(s) would energize when the truck is on to prevent the white lights from coming on. So the white lights are wired through the normally closed contacts on the relay(s).
#s 30&87a. Connect the light bar grounds to #30, the dome light ground to 87a and a solid ground, to the frame/body to 87. Use 30 &87a on the other relay as well.
When the relays energize by turning the key on, you'll have ground to the light so that the other functions of the light bars will work.

    Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the reply Larzzzz. So, it's not a simple splice like the other wires are for the running and turn signals? I put these lights on my 08 Dodge 2500, and it didn't require a relay (I know, totally different trucks), and was able to connect the white wire without doing anything different. Didn't realize there was that much difference in a dome light wire between manufacturers. I guess my question is, is a relay required in order to connect this wire or can it be accomplished without that? Thanks again.

Some switch the 12v wire for the dome light, unfortunately, Toyota didn't. You gotta, flip the logic, as it were... You could do it with one 2 pole spdt relay.

"Connect the light bar grounds to #30, the dome light ground to 87a and a solid ground, to the frame/body to 87."

Since there is only one ground wire on the light bar running all the lights, it sounds like from your suggestion that I need to splice it and run a ground to two different spdt relays. Am I understanding you correctly?

No, the relay will give the light bar 2 different grounds options. One variable from the dome light and one hard when the vehicle is on.
Since the white light has priority, you need to keep it off while the truck is on, that's why I said either a second relay or a 2 pole relay

Gotcha, thanks for the help. Might have some questions about this when I get to work on this again. Thanks again.
