So I have a 2015 4x4 Sport with what seems to be an issue. As I was playing the stop and go game trying to get onto post, every time I hit the brakes as I was moving forward, I had a loud thump. This could be felt in the peddles and even hear a bit. I had this similar issue with my 2010 Tundra. It turned out to be the driveshaft. Is this a common problem or something that could be particular to my truck? It's still under warranty so I know I can take this into the dealer. I just like going with as much information as possible so I don't get the normal "we can't reproduce" or "that's just normal". Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.

does turning tires to black wall out count? How bout added snug top rebel.
Sounds like possibly u-joints on the driveline. Or carrier bearing.

I looked through the TSBs for the 2015s and couldn't find anything. I do know for My Tundra they had a TSB for the drive shaft and it ended up needing to replace the entire drive shaft. I'll check the U-joints an C-bearing

Yep, the slip yoke bump, I had it replaced on my 09 Tundra as well under warranty. The F-150s I drive at work are really bad about it.

I haven't really heard of it being a problem on the Tacoma though.

One can never have too many light bars.
Had the same problem on my 2013 about a year and a half ago. Took it in and they replaced the drive shaft under warranty. I think it was the slip yoke.

There are several posts about it here. Gotta go to work so can't search now, but I found the info here to fix the slip yoke.

It was definitely the issue on my 08, but didn't manifest itself until over 100ish K. I greased up the splines without dropping the shaft(enough slack to do most of it if you unbolt the CB) and it went away completely. I later just added a grease fitting to the slip yoke when I decided to replace my CB. I probably would ot do that to something still under warranty though.

I think you guys have reassured me that its most likely the drive shaft. I'll make sure I remove all items out of my truck before I take it to the dealer. You know how they are, "Oh it must have been those tools in the back you heard making that noise". Thanks again guys for the info.

When they go for a test ride you be the driver. That will take care of that problem.
