Just add a couple of ounces about 500 miles before your oil change, use the same oil and repeat the process as needed. You can actually do it indefinitely if you want, there is nothing in Seafoam to harm the engine, it actually attacks the deposits and sludge.

I am sure it does some cleaning, but anything g that can go through the tank, into the oil, and through a vacuum line concerns me a bit.

I have done titration tests on seafoam and it didn't have much more detergent than pump gas.

Also if you are going to use it as an engine cleaner for the oil, try doing a before and after compression test to see if it helps with compression.

I use the spray can 3rd pictured in my throttle body and it makes the tail smoke like doing the brake booster.

because people think it needs to cost money and come out of a fancy can to work.

I have been using tap water to clean intakes for years and it decarbons the valves and pistons much better then all those things you buy in a can plus leaves no residue behind to collect dirt faster after its cleaned. use water in the same way they use seafoam on the video and you get the same result without the expense of leaving oil film in your intake system

Well I just tried it. put about half in the vacuum. Then rest in gas tank. Didn't smoke a lot like most I've seen. And not really any gunk out tail pipe. Might be due to my cats already being clogged. But just a couple little black spots of gunk blew out. Like literally 5 little spots. And a little bit of black sludge settled at end of tail pipe. Smoked a tiny bit while inducing into vacuum line. Then more after sitting for 10 min.s. But certainly not billowing. Then drove and about the same smoke for about a half mile. Then nothin after a mile or so. Maybe my engines pretty clean already. Idk. Engine did seem to run a little smoother, but really didn't notice anything else. She already ran really good. No power gains on the butt dyno. Raced er pretty good. Haven't done that in a while though. Getting a whole new custom exhaust done with high flow cat and whatnot, real soon here.. So figured I'd better do this with the old cats. Should see a major increase after exhaust is done...

A co-worker will be seafoaming her 01 dodge Dakota 6cyl. But hers is pretty gunked up. I cleaned her throttle body out and pcv hose and port. It was really dirty and had oil in the bottom of intake. And it's running a little better after throttle body cleaning, but I'm sure it'll benefit a ton more with seafoam compared to mine. Will update when it's done.

    Edit: 173k miles on engine.

they would do it just the same with seafoam, liquid poured in intake is liquid poured in intake, it doesn't matter if its water, seafoam or steak sauce lol.

the wet liquid hitting the hot valves and piston is what flashes the carbon off and cleans it, what the liquid is made of does not matter

I wonder how well steak sauce would work. I bet it would smell damn good! I guess it depends on the brand....

I also have run a can of this through my 2001 3.4L and it smoked pretty good. Should not breath that crap tho.... I have 192,000 on the engine. Seemed to run a bit smoother except for my bad #6 injector. Was hoping it would clean it but alas its dead. Any suggestions on a good cost effective Injector?

    Thx in advance....

Probably the PCV valve. Just look for a vacuum hose that enters the intake and feeds all the cylinders

I have a question. I have a 04 Tacoma. It has around 285,000 miles and I am not sure how well it was maintained before I got it. Should I do a full Seafoam treatment on it ? Or just run some thru the gas tank to start ?

I've honestly gotten more and more turned off by doing any kind of top end cleaning in modern engines, I just don't think it's necessary and the risk vs reward just isn't worth it. You know what you see someone in front of you floor it and some crap comes out of the tail pipe? I would imagine that's all the cleaning you need.

Just an occasional redline to clean off the top of the cylinders. Am I wrong? If so, what exactly is that stuff poofing out of the tail pipe when you floor it?
