MT stuff, RTT stuff, the usual.
How'd those tie down points end up working out for you? I am buying @Shmellmopwho's old trailer build, and will need some tie down points / lashing points in it.

    Thanks man

I think they work great for permanent lash points. I still use them constantly.

Hope this isn't dead yet. I am starting a build like yours. Do you have any suggestion on what you have learned throughout the years? Whether you would have liked to build something another way or you wish you added something more or anything like that.

Good question. My trailer is pretty basic. It doesn't have a lot of fancy stuff like a water tank, batteries, fancy kitchen, solar yada yada. So for what it is, I love it. I haven't needed to run power to the trailer since my fridge is in the truck. A water tank would be nice but hasn't been needed enough to add one yet. I carry 10 gal of water in the cans and even on long trips I haven't needed more than that so adding a large water tank would just add more weight.

There's nothing wrong with having stuff like a camp kitchen, power and water on the trailer and those would be nice, but for my uses I haven't needed them on the trailer. I still have the water, I have a good camp stove etc, they're just not built into the trailer.

Overall, the size has been great. I wouldn't want one much bigger on the trails. Having the lid has helped a lot with keeping things protected from weather and from possible thieves.

It's simple, but I like the leaf spring setup. Trailing arms and air bags are a neat setup that gets used a lot on trailers. They work well but there are more components that can fail. I once broke a spring hanger on the trailer. I was able to just use a ratchet strap to keep it in place and still drove over 200 miles of trails before fixing it. If the same thing had happened with a trailing arm bracket, the trailer would have been crippled and unusable until it was rewelded. Again, nothing wrong with trailing arms, I have just appreciated the simplicity and essentially trouble free leaf springs (besides they are MUCH cheaper).

I guess if I were to change anything it would be to have an axle with brakes. Mine is just a free-wheeling axle and it's never been a problem, but if I were doing it over again I'd add brakes to the axle just to have them.

That's a nice picture you should frame it and hang it up in your garage if you haven't already.

I'm in the process of building my trailer. I'm getting a 3500# dexter axle, no brakes 6x5.5 lug pattern. Do you see any issue with putting on the 4Runner TRD 17" rims on this set up?

Do you have stabilizers in the back when you camped?

Is this welded/ bolted on. I'm at a point of how I want to set mine up. Stabilizers can get pretty big, and in the way. I'm currently sitting about 24.5-25" from ground to bottom of my trailer.

No it’s a very simple contraption I got at Camping World for like $20. This is what it’s designed for. It folds up and fits in a bag about 18” Long. I just keep it in the trailer. Nothing permanent to hang down and get caught/bent on rocks etc on the trail. When the trailer is hoped to the truck or when the tongue jack is down and the stabilizer is in place it’s really solid.

I'll have to check that out. Seem a lot more simple. Thanks for the advice.
