I found 1 decent thread on here in the vendor section but there inst much traction there.

I just got the Paintable ABS in the mail yesterday. I should have it painted and installed by the end of the week, but i'll post pics here once im done.. Figured its a relatively easy/cheap fix to get rid of the chrome until I get rear ended or pony-up the money for a custom bumper haha

i hear ya, im in the same boat. Im on the fence whether i want to paint or not. Personal experience has never seemed to match oem paint and finish over the years. Even with "oem match paint" with proper prep.

Yeah I actually saw your post before i bought it. I looked forever on how to get rid of my chrome bumper but it doesn't seem like theres any good way to go about it without buying a new one and having it professionally painted, which from what i've seen would be around $300-400 after everything.

Anyway im hoping MGM is dark enough to hide any paint/texture mismatch, and that it stays on for more than a week!

Finally got around to painting them yesterday (it was raining this weekend) and honestly think they look great, so shoutout to DupliColor for the match. They still may need another coat before I do the clear coat and possible wet-sanding, but I should have them installed by the end of the week.

I have a set on my truck, so far so good. Installation wasn't too bad. I bought a set of black ones and I really like that the plastic they are made of is black and not painted so if something hits the bumper and scratches it there is no paint to damage. I have my concerns about longevity but I check them every couple of days and so far they are holding strong without any signs of coming loose.

Are they held on by double sided tape?

The top of the piece slides between the plastic top on the bumper and the bumper so it's tucked in there. That part takes a bit of work to get in there and it is snug. The rest of the piece is held on with several strips of 3m tape. I had planned on adding more to be safe before I put it on until I received the pieces and saw how much is on there.

    Hope this helps.

So I finally finished painting this weekend and installed them last night. Install was fairly easy and took maybe 20 mins, the only tough part was getting the license plate lights to go back in over the thickness the shell added. I'm definitely pleased with the outcome as it looks way better than the chrome imo, but if I were to do it again I'd probably go with the textured black rather than the paintable version. I spent about $100 in primer, paint, clear coat, and polish, and while i think it looks good, it's definitely not an exact match and there are a few spots that are a little rough if you look close (my own fault). Overall though, im a happy customer and think this is a good solution for hiding chrome or dents/scratches.
