YOU don't have to go to toyota and spend thosands.. go to a reputable Indy shop and pay a diagnostic fee.. a shop with trained technicians that understand electrical stuff do exist and they should charge at least an hour.. Any thing less than 1 he and any promises of "free diag" would be a warning sign that they aren't good electrical guys and you should keep looking!

YOU might be surprised, I've seen lots of intermittent no-crank/no power issues and I was able to find all of them..

But that wouldn't explain his no power and no dash lights completely dead when it won't crank. I'm thinking ignition switch or some kind of main power relay

    Too few to list.
I believe Borla is who makes the TRD branded exhaust for our trucks.

20170520_151156.jpg 20170520_151156.jpg 20170520_151245.jpg i think i found the problem. This is my 30a AM2 fuse. Looks like one end of the fuse didnt slide over the pin and pushed it up not making a good connection and was probably triping my c/opn relay.

I have this same exact shutting off thing that started after the dealership replaced the frame on my 06. I am thinking it is a loose connector when things were plugged back in but don't no where to start. I have been chasing this issue since last spring. It shuts off just like someone turn the key off. At idle or when driving. sometimes in doesn't do it for a long period of time. All gauges drop to nothing.
It happened this morning while idling. This time I held the key in the start position for about 8 seconds thinking if it were a loose connection it my heat up enough to make a connection and it started right up. Fun stuff....

So, it's Aug. 2021 and my 05 Tacoma just started having this problem. I have swapped out my maf, tb, spark plugs, new air filter, fuel filter and checked relays and fuses. I finally came across this Thread and read ALL 16 pages and comments and swapped out that 30amp AM2 fuse and the issue has disappeared now for a few days... If any of you still use this website. THANK YOU! it saved me from just about giving up and taking it to the dealer.....4 years later, this thread was worth it!
