I am in the process of ordering a new exhaust tip for my tacoma "mine is rusted" and i am trying to find out if i need to order a tip with a 2.25" OD or a 2.5" OD inlet for it to be welded on... My truck is a 2001 with a 3.4L v6. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Are talking about cutting off the sort of factory tip that's on the truck? which is just 2.25" widened to 2.5" or does it already have a tip on it separate from the existing pipe?
if you're cutting off the factory "tip" at the end of the exhaust then its 2.5" were the exhaust system ends, and the rest of the exhaust system is 2.25 inches.

    Also why not just measure?

It is an aftermarket tip that has been welded to the factory pipe. I measured the outside circumference "just behind the weld on" and did a little math and it gave me a number between 2.25/2.5".

Ok that measurement should be the OD of the 2.25" ID pipe and should be around 2.4" OD meaning you should probably order your stuff in the 2.5" configuration so the new tip can slip fit over the pipe and weld on nicely

I went ahead and ordered 2.5" just to make sure it would fit. Thanks!
