Just got back, ran most of the north side of the lake. Did gold mtn and John Bull in my xj, no lockers, no armor and 33x10.5 all terrains with no issues. They are definitely challenging trails, but not as crazy as everyone makes it sound

I am in Costa Mesa in South OC. Just picked up a Off-Road about a month ago!

Been wanting to get up to Big Bear for a while now.

Went totally unscathed on John bull? Impressive. A little driving ability/line selection/spotting go along way most of the time.

That said I remember getting my front and rear bumpers, sliders and diff guard in my rover years back... I wouldn't drag my double cab through there without some skids, sliders, bumpers, 33's.

    Any photos ?

Yeah just had a spotter and picked good lines. The xj really impresses me, it's a good size and artilcultes pretty good. Let me try to find some good pics of this weekend.

Awesome. I love that area. Never camped it. Looks like the weather was crisp cold.

For sure those XJs work great. Not mention cheap and tons of aftermarket parts available

For anyone thinking about going up, I would highly recommend going. There are miles of trails that you can cruise around on even on a stock 2wd truck. Tons of great views, good hiking trails, nice camping areas

Totally agreed. There's so much to do up there from easy fire road sight seeing to intense trails. Camping is great to
