No worries ... I had the score figured by 12 years of age. I started working for extra cash and to get out of the house. Worked all the way through High School, then joined the Air Force and GTFO. No regrets brother, no whining ... pick yourself up and get on with it. I think my grandmother was a good influence somehow. :notsure:

Nothing as exotic as that, Moyock has exploded since they moved in according to Google Earth.

Left recruiting duty in Pa. in the mid 80's as an E squat and married with a young baby on the way. Didn't want to live in Navy housing AF would have been different but Navy no way. Bought a trailer from a Chief in Carlisle, Pa. and hauled it down to Currituck the only place I could afford.

Was stationed on a Gator in Little Creek and the drive wasn't too bad but long enough. We ended up selling the Hermitage to Brazil and I transferred to the USS America. I was just following the roads I took on Google Earth and went right to the base using the Earth view.

    Norfolk Navy base.jpg

Been a lot of years. As long as I got up at 4 AM and left by 0420 I could make it on board well before 0600 more like 0530. If I left any later than 0430 then I was lucky to make it by 0600 and more like 0700. I was never late.

Coming home on Friday afternoon in the summer with all the traffic headed to Nags Head it could take me 2-3 hours to get home. We were deployed a lot so didn't have to put up with too much of it.

IIRC back in the day, had to be E-5, at Pope/Ft Bragg anyway, to get base housing. We were E squat living in a trailer when we had our first son. Moved the trailer from NC to IL, had our second son (bunk bedded 'em) ... lived in that trailer until we PCS'd overseas to RAF Mildenhall in 1994. :fistbump:
