Toprac is all mounted up! Only question I have is does anyone else's not line up with their cabrac? My toprac sits a little lower than my cabrac..

Some shells are different heights that others. The rack was probably designed off of a taller shell. See which spacers the guy who posted early about mounting a rack to his KB Voodoo rack used and just throw some of those on.

Ya, sits maybe a 1/4" to 1/8" shorter than the cabrac. Only asking cause I was thinking of getting a longer awning.

That would bother me. I would have to use spacers of some kind to make it even.

The spacers I used for the voodoo rack (2x4s.. until the custom order aluminium ones come in) are probably overkill for the his shell. Shimming the shell should be really easy though. Just some decent quality washers should be enough to pick it up a bit.

Looking at your picture, I can't see too much of a difference. I bet it wouldn't be that hard to add a small spacer. You can order some aluminium ones to go above the mounts and under the rack, or just some washers under the mount. Either should work fairly well.

Are you planning on securing the awning to both the toprac and cabrac? IF so that is a very bad idea, especially if you off road. Tacomas are designed to flex and not have a rigid frame like most other trucks. it will bend/warp the awning if it is attached to both racks.

You can... as long as you put it back to unlifted prior to your yearly mandatory inspection or before shipping the vehicle home.

Started the install of my cabrac on my 3rd gen DC yesterday. 3 questions for you all:

    1) Anyone run into a bad mounting thread in the factory mounting holes under the weatherstripping? 1 of the 10 won't thread a bolt without feeling like it's going to cross thread. I tried multiple bolts that work in the other mounting holes. Not sure what to do on that.

    2) Suggestions on marking where to make the holes in the weather stripping? I found a great method for the fore to aft markings here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/measuring-marking-holes-for-spacers.478632/#post-14554105 but this doesn't address variance left and right from the center line of the trim and mine are all over the place. hoping for a good method or alternate option to drilling holes. My first attempt was garbage and I can't find those weather strips for a reasonable price.
    3) Related to #2 - Anyone have weather strips for a 3rd Gen DC they are looking to offload?

hmm, perhaps getting a thread tap and cleaning out the hole might work?

Also make sure your not cross threading the bolt. I had one of the front two on the passengers side give me trouble. But after messing with it for some time, I finally got it. Also may be paint build up on threads and cleaning them as stated above will help.

With regards to your alignment issue on the weather stripping, does it really matter if they are perfectly lined up from side to side on the weather stripping? Are we talking like 1/4 of inches here or minute amounts? The weather stripping is pretty flexibile and i am sure you can push it side to side enough to accommodate any misalignment on the holes.

For availability, just buy some, it is super cheap in the US compared to here in Canada, I'm pushing 400 dollars to get mine, where in the US it is about 200. Also trying to sell my OEM roof rack for cheap and for their weather stripping, hoping someone bites on it, because buying the weather stripping here in Canada is almost as expensive as buying the OEM roof rack, bloody crazy let me tell ya. Until then my prinsu sits in my bedroom against the wall working as a clothes drying rack. Turn on the light bar and it really dries things fast!
