Dealership said I didn't need oil change at first service (5k)

    I just take mine in every 5k and let them do w/e they want. Runs fine

    kind of suspicious though. If you really think about it. Years ago, when there was no oil change plans for vehicles... they pushed for a 3k oil change. Now that vehicles are under their care for over 2 years (BMW has I think 5 years), they establish a 10k or possible more oil change.
    Yes, I know technology has changed... etc. Still kind of convenient:spy::stirthepot:.

    I had the dealer do the 10K service (included oil change) at 5K. I'll get the 20K service done at 15K and then I'm done. The closest dealer is 150 mi away.

    Underworld Flex trifold, tinted, TRDPRO grill, TRDPRO shift knob, etc,etc
    Yes, 10k is the new standard if you're using synthetic, if not, 5k oil change is recommended. But it is recommended that if using standard, a switch back to synthetic be made every other change. This is in the owner's manual.

    I also had mine done at about 1500. When talking to the service manager who was filling in for a service writer, I told him that I believed in doing the first change early despite the recommended 10K. He smiled and said "I do the same thing."

    1,061 miles and 90 days.
    After that, on the 5k intervals. Did the first and the 5k myself. Yeah, old skool.
