My brother in law has a 2001 access cab Tacoma, manual tranny. It is actually in really good shape (great body, good interior, runs great.) It is one of the reasons I am looking at ordering a new Taco to replace my SUV.

He just found out that his frame is rusted through. Dealer has advised him there is no recourse through Toyota. So, he wants to sell it and buy something else.

Quick question...is this thing worth anything with a bad frame IF it is as i described in pretty darn good looking and running condition otherwise? If it is worth something...approximately what? (sorry, I do not have a photo.) Finally, what is the best way to sell a vehicle like this?

with a bad frame, even when it is running perfectly fine, it's not worth much

I think it would be better for you to sell the parts

if you sell it as a whole for the parts, i'd say $500 to $1000 max

It's basically only worth the parts that you're willing to take off and sell, or sell it whole as a 'parts truck' only. If it can't pass a safety inspection then it can't legally be sold as a running vehicle.

Or be patient and wait for the right buyer that has a frame that they can swap themselves, or fix themselves?

Yeah, its a major safety concern. You're doing the right thing by asking these questions. So many people try and sell it to a naive buyer, knowing they may have just put someone in a death trap. Part it or sell as a parts car, or spend the money to have someone who you trust to do a frame swap if you love the truck
