Premium Tech Package includes tow package?

On the Toyota website, when you build a 2017 Tacoma OR, one of the options is the $2,980 'premium technology package with options'.

The way the Toyota website describes it, that package INCLUDES the Tow Package, as it's listed within the tech package.

Do you interpret it the same way?

I ask because on the quote I received from the dealership includes the $2980 for the Tech Package AND and additional $650 for the tow package. I wouldn't be surprised if they are trying to rip me off so I'm seeking guidance from you before going back and asking to remove $650 from my quote.

I understand the two packages are separate. In Louisiana any v6 will come with a tow package, because that's the way the distributor orders all of them, one member from up north has a TRD off-road V6 with no tow package.

You are correct. The P&T package is $2330 which is $2980 less $650. They are double charging for the tow package if they have it listed and the P&T Package with Options that includes the tow package.

That being said the Tonneau cover is also $650 and there is a P&T Package with Options that includes the Tonneau. So it could be they have tow individually and then P&T with Tonneau.

I got the base premium package without Tonneau because I ordered a shell. I think they are double charging me. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it was an accident so long as they don't argue when I bring it up!

In certain areas the Tow Package is a required option on the Off Road, my area being one of them.

On the 30 to 40 Tacoma's I've looked at in Louisiana and Texas, the tow package was always listed separately. And if you refer to the sticky about model/order info. Tech premium package order code is either FP, or HH depending if you get JBL. The tow package order code is TO. On the window sticker it should be on two different lines.

 

If you ever want to know the exact configuration, ask the dealer to take a picture of the Monroney sticker on the window.

When l was building my truck on Toyota Site, it automatically has Tow Package selected and l added P&T, they are listed seperate on the window sticker though.

 

So what does that mean that it's included on the package but listed differently on the window sticker.

 

If you add the prices together it equals the package price, l had to get the Tow Package as it was required with the OR, the P&T l was able to buy seperately

 

So if the price includes the tow package, then they are double charging me since they quoted me the full price of the package and 650 for the tow.

 

No all the major manufacturers such as Chevy Dodge Volvo Subaru do the same way. If a certain package requires you buy something else it's charged on two different lines. What I've seen Ford and Chevy do they might include a third line with the package discount

 

That sounds really confusing, if l were you l would double check the window sticker and the dealer numbers.

 

A lot of manufacturers use the words require and included which is tricky sometimes.

Put a picture of the window sticker up here, or send one of us a picture of the dealers paperwork so we can look at it
