So I picked up this Leer 100XR on Craigslist. The guy traded in his 2016 for a 4Runner. Looked good in pictures, but when I showed up to pick it up it had some minor damage and the color match sucks. Told the guy I wasn't interested, but he needed to unload it so I got it cheap, $300:

I took it to a local body shop and asked how much to repaint if I removed all the windows and prepped it so all he had to do was spray it. He quoted 300-350 for quality base and clear coat (seems reasonable to me). I really wanted windoors on the cap for this new truck, so I emailed to company that manufacturers for Leer. They quoted me $500 for the pair. My question is, is it worth it to do all this or should I get a new cap? The body shop assured me he can get an almost perfect match compared to what Leer does from the factory. Even with the windows and repaint, I am still only at $1250 compared to the price of the new cap. Are the windoors worth it?

Yes! They are worth it. You will use them far more than you think. It makes the interior of the shell accessible, without him not so much. Doooo etttt!

if i were you i'd hold out for another used cap with windoors, and when that's available, flip the one you currently have. that's my plan too, just picked up a cap with sliders and some cosmetic defects, if i can find a windoors cap i'll be able to get rid of my current one for what i paid for it, but dont see the use in dumping a lot of money into fixes on the current cap.

Well i just got the cap back from the body shop yesterday. It had quite a bit of damage to the paint so I did all the body work to save on labor. I also shaved the stupid Leer stickers and filled in the indents on the side where they go. Much cleaner IMHO. Ill post pics tommorow.

Looks great! I would love to do the same thing with the emblems on mine.

Any luck or decision on swapping out for windoors?
