I need some advice on which tires to get. I don't off road very much but when I do it's pretty rough. There's a job site I have to get to atleast twice a month and in order to get there I have to drive through a 30 min off road trial that's pretty rocky. I highway drive more often but I'm not sure if the ko2's would be enough for that off road trial to work or not? Any advice? Which should I get?

BFGs for rocks and MTs for mud. If you do not drive in heavy mud no need for noise and lower tread life on a MT

Had KO2's for 30k and they didn't hold balancing well. Needed to be road forced every 6 months and one was too far out to be corrected. Currently on Toyo MT's and like them a lot. The lugs are wide enough that they throw less stones the the bfg's.

Toyos hands down. They are heavier but by far the best looking tire. They will also likely dry rot before they wear down. This is a very hard rubber tire. A friend and I both have had them on tacomas, half tons up to 1 tons. They have never had to be replaced before 50k. On the half tons, they literally dry rotted from age before wearing down.

I don't have any experience on the KO2's but if they are anything like the original AT KO then you can't go wrong. I got ridiculous mileage on the originals and the performance off road was amazing as well.

If the OP is not running in mud then he could go with something a lot less aggressive like a Cooper AT3. Myself I prefer the ST Maxx over the BFGs. BFGs suck in the mud which is my main concern off road. Not sure the ST Maxx's are going to be that much better but will find out come hunting season.

Thats nuts! Man the KO2s must be completely different than the original! I say that because man I lived down a 5 mile dirt road here south of Tucson and every monsoon season the road would turn into a mud bog... people getting stuck everywhere. The BFGs where amazing(!) in the mud for an AT. They cleaned really well and hooked up like crazy in the greasy stuff. They actually felt better in some regards then the Mickey Thompson mudders I had on my jeep at the time. All this talk about the KO2s makes me nervous... as I was really debating getting a set in the future. :(

More than one review says the KO2 has improved mud performance compared to the KO. Also improved snow/ice performance. If you liked he KO you'll like the KO2 even better.

A dedicated MT will still likely be even better than the KO2 in hard core muddling. But the MT will be way worse on the highway for mileage and noise. Also worse on ice and packed snow.

I've seen a few people report KO2 balancing issues. Not sure why or how common. No issues with mine though only 14k on them so far.

OP should get a AT and not a MT for his needs (off-road only twice a month and lots of highway). The KO2 is a fine choice but there are other great ATs as well.

I've had the Toyo M/Ts I liked them a lot. I drove on them till they were bald. Liking them so much, but felt like the M/Ts were a bit much for me I recently bought a set of Toyo R/T. So far I like them the best tire for my Daily Driver/Desert Toy.

I have been very happy with my KO2's. I can't comment on mud but they do well in everything else.

I like your style. The R/Ts are a little quieter than the M/T's imo.
