Access cab with no back seats. Perfect combo of looks and function overall. Unless you want to haul people, not things.

Double Cab Long Bed? Best of both if you need a 6 foot bed.

    Access cab all the way.

    If I wanted 4 doors I'd just get a 4Runner.

Love mine 99% of the time. It's exactly what I needed.
That other 1%, though rare, really sucks. I'm planning a family off road trip.
We can be cooped up in there for a couple hours, but we'll need another vehicle for the cross country trip.
4 people and a dog just can't exist in there for more than 2-3 hours at a time.

I like the double cab. I rarely travel with more than one other person, but the 75 lb pit bull loves the extra room / back seat. And, if I go to Costco (which I do weekly), I have a lot more room to put groceries and stuff. I have a cover on the bed, but it's not the same as putting stuff inside the cab. And, with the gate dropped, I can still haul 10' studs, full sheets of plywood or just about anything else I need. IMG_1790.jpg IMG_1791.jpg IMG_1792.jpg

I have the access cab with the utility package. The 2 seat "sports coupe" of the Toyota Tacoma lineup.
It's awesome, for what I use it for it's the ideal configuration. The opposite of any family vehicle.

Yup and yup. I have the utility package also. Everything you need (if it's just one or two of you), less shit to break.

Not taking sides, but some advantages of dc:
Only have to open one door to put awkward items like dead bodies in the back.
Dogs? Dc easier if they're old.
Don't like people? Dc is better, you can say you have plenty of room, they still ain't riding.
    Dogs? Rear windows.
But I had a 2nd gen AC for 12 years and liked it just fine.
Would lean towards utility cab if I were to do it again.

DC is much easier to do a simple grocery run. You can open up the back door in a tight parking lot. The access cab is awkward in that situation. However, I try to park far away from people for all the obvious reasons so it tends not to be an issue but I have slipped up and it's been a inconvenience. So advantage DC for tight shopping and dogs . Which sounds funny. LOL

I don't know man. I'm gonna be real with you guys because I care. access cab has a lot of usable room back there. More so with the utility but you sacrifice stuffing people back there in a pinch. And those pinches happen. I've said this before, but you can put a honda spree back there, and you could even build a ramp and RIDE it out if you want.

That's how I think of mine. The smaller cab feels more cozy than with the big empty space behind you in the DC.

With that tonneau cover I don't see why you don't just throw your groceries in the back. Do you even haul decent sized payloads?

I chose AC for the bed space while still having a shorter truck. Have had 4 people in it including me, it's uncomfortable... for them... they went an hour with minimal complaining. If I had kids I would get a DC, but that would be the only reason and at that point I would buy full size.

I've never had a problem with groceries it seems most here have... Also, being able to open the entire side of a vehicle comes in handy a lot more than you would think, well for me anyway.

    Plus DC's look goofy...
