Didn't change my world but ...
I picked up a couple of Craftsman 13 inch tool bags. $5 each right now at Sears. Using one to store my tie downs etc and the other for a few basic tools. Fit perfectly in the cubbyholes under the rear seat in a double cab.

The bed mat would get my vote, but it came on the truck from the dealer. So Im going with my latest little mod...the console organizer! LED lights throughout the truck are up there as well.

-Now I can keep my gun, knives, flashlights, gorilla tape, misc koozie stuff, battery bank....and Pepto organized.

I use the same sized bags from harbor freight. They work great for all types of things. Have a few in the truck, and a few in the garage that I keep empty/ready in case I need to throw some stuff in and go.

I might actually go with one of these now. Thanks!

I put bed lights in, $30 for the LED kit, $6 for the pin switch, and $10 for a spool of extra 16ga wire. For under $50, this has been one of my favorite functional upgrades as I am accessing my bed multiple times a day, often in the dark. If you have a tonneau cover or cap, I would highly recommend this.

    Lights:

    Switch (price went up):
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002ZPBHU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Install was pretty painless, probably had about two hours in it for running power from the front and tying it all together neatly under the bed.

I forgot to put the picture of the switch in! It's on the left side of the tailgate, right under the latch point

The pin switch breaks the ground when the tailgate is closed. I added a power switch inside the left cubby as well in case I need to leave the tailgate down for an extended period and don't want the lights on (ie, hauling lumber)

That's smart. I was thinking about just putting a switch at one of the blanks next to fog light switch or something. What did you use for your power switch?

I used a simple rocker switch

I saw several installs of these where they put a switch up next to the steering wheel but I wanted to save that spot for a light bar switch and the rocker switch in the back allows me to control it from there without walking up to the front everytime!

So are there already holes under the carpet for the clip to screw into?
