Thanks for checking in!! Ya our whole party made it out ok. So crazy that climber passed this weekend, that was literally the same day within a few hours time frame from when we were on the hogs back. I slipped out on my heel edge the first turn down and slid for quite a ways and had my own scare, but nothing bad. Tragic for that other guy though!

is the oil pan bolt/washer something specific? i have a small leak coming from there and i think its just due to it being old/i over tightend it. does anyone know what size i need for that or if i should just get a new set from toyota?

 

most likely the crush washer is worn out. Try just getting one of those.

 

My dad taught me to change my own oil. He told me to just replace the bolt and crush washer every time since they were so cheap.

Look into a Fumoto Valve instead. I just put one in on the last oil change, so that should make it easier/cleaner and I can do my own changes.

which valve do you have? the sx series one or the other?

think im just gonna jump on a fumoto valve. do you still use the crush washer with the fumoto?

 

This is the exact one I bought. Note that it comes with it's own washer. I then zip tied a length of tube to it so when the time comes to change the oil, I can just drain it right into a milk jug. The tube is just coiled up above the skid plate.

 

I have the same one. I use them in everything I can as with a hose it is a super easy oil change. I don't leave the hose attached but that's personal preference. Then again my hose goes between multiple vehicles so that's more why

Lived in Oregon between 1979 to 2004 so basically from age 1 to 26 years old. Pretty much the majority of it in Newport, Oregon (class of '96) and then bounced around a bit between Eugene and Portland before relocating down to Arizona where I've been for the last 13 years.

I go back pretty often but haven't had my truck long enough to take it on a serious road trip back to "the homeland".

I'm just popping in to see if there's going to be any sort of meet up for the Eclipse happening in August...?
I'll be going back for a long weekend (19th-22nd) to Newport to watch the madness. Staying with a buddy out in Toledo but we may be trying to find some camping off the beaten path within the eclipse zone.

Just curious if anyone is going to be trying to go to the Depot Bay/Lincoln City/Newport area for the event. Didn't see another thread here on it but figured it couldn't hurt to check.

need some input on my washington oregon trip!

 

Almost have everything on the right side of my handlebars put together (throttle tube, heated grip, grip added). I need to do safety wire, I just learned about that by accident.
Need to wire things someday.



Hopefully by end of the week, this will go on. I need some closed cell foam to sandwich in. Lowe's and Home Depot were a bust.

Meh, the pegs are kind of a cheap upgrade ($35 or something), they are barely any bigger. I should have stepped up to pivot pegz or Pro Moto, especially with my sasquatch feet.
Pro Moto has this new Air EXT peg, but I don't understand what the extra baby step thing is for or how it claims to prevent ankle injuries

 

Yay, closed cell foam was not necessary. I talked on ADVRider and some said the foam can raise engine temperature, so I used some leftover RAAMMat sound deadener that I've had around since I first bought the truck. Worked awesome apparently. Everyone talks about vibrations and added noise; I can't tell that I added anything.
