Thing with height on a bed rack is the taller you get the more you'll feel it in the corners and off camber.

Some claim not to feel it. But they are kidding themselves. It's over 100 lbs for a light tent. You're gonna notice.

Both tents on both rigs are below the roof. And I rarely raise Frank's even to setup. Because I really never use the annex anyways.

Just get the dogs a long leash and let me sleep under the truck. My dogs hate being leashed anyways. I usually let me roam free at night. They were hunting dogs though. So they live outside and in the shop year round.

Exactly why I don't want it high; tippy. And, unfortunately I don't live in Middle Earth like you. Dogs are city slickers who also don't like being on a leash, but I'd like to keep them inside rather than leashed up. Pup is also 6 months and not quite ready for the freedom of being off leash in the woods. Soooooooo the questions remains - have you attempted to use the annex at low height?

I think I could still make an annex work, even if at a low height. If anything it'll be extra storage like Cory said.

If I had the annex, I do see myself using it. Spending one night at a location, don't set it up. Spending multiple nights in one location, then feel free to set up. Just my two cents though

Never bothered as the walls alone are almost 6' tall. Or taller. Even with as tall as frank sits the walls would be in the dirt with the rack low. Damn near in the dirt when I had the tall rack. Which they aren't as touch as the poly floor so you could end up with tears. But it'll go on ok sure haha

Even in the hills you couldnt get a 20' leash to tie to one of your tow points?

I have a leash already and it does get used while camping. Just imagine it a little easier to have the pups in an enclosed setting at night rather than on a leash.

One of the main reasons I'll be switching to one of these if I switch to an SUV as well as no top heavy-ness. Annex is a pain to set up every night for pets.

True. I found a fold up padded cot that fits two and a self inflating mattress that I'd probably use. It'll be a while before I make the switch, so who knows what'll be out by then.

Don't want an RTT on the roof of an SUV, hard shells are too expensive, and I have no use for a trailer.

No doubt. RTT on an SUV would suck

Hi-Lift Mount is in. Little bit of a pain to get all bolted up, but it's in.

Pretty happy with how things came out. Should hold for the years to come.

Also should note that I'm on Summer Break now. :bananadance: Time to start planning trips.

I still have to finish up with community college before I transfer. I'll be 21 on Friday if that makes you feel older :p

Don't know if you asking me or @BYJOSHCOOK , but I'm going into computer science.
