"Output 1" will be a quick disconnect; not used regularly but will be there in case I need to shut off the tank and run air from the compressor itself. I think I should switch the pressure gauge into the "output 2" position and then put a T-fitting between the tank and "quick disconnect 1". I see what you're saying about the regulator position, doesn't make much sense in that spot. Should go between the tank and "quick disconnect 1" right?

So I'm thinking it should go something like this -

Put pressure gauge into "output 2" position
Regulator between tank and "quick disconnect 1"
    T-fitting after regulator
    "Output 2" on the T-fitting

This diagram should have everything in the correct location.

Basically why the 2 different pressure zones? What are you going to use the air for? Air tools, lockers, seems like you don't have a complete plan yet?

Basically the idea was to create a fail proof system that would allow me to use the system normally, from compressor to tank. The idea also was to allow me to shut off the system after the ball valve in case the tank got mangled on the trail, regulator failure, etc. If that happened I could hook up the quick disconnect to the manifold and still have air straight from the compressor, isolating any failure beyond the ball valve.

Not running air lockers currently, might use air tools occasionally. Pretty much overkill for airing up tires but I figured I'd build a system that would allow for maximum expandability for when I do get lockers.

So you have no reason to have 2 different PSI in your system? You're current drawing, let's say your Pressure Switch is a 90on/120off, will have 120PSI (in the tank and output 1 and Quick disconnect 2) and let's say you have your regulator set at 85PSI (at Output 2 and Quick disconnect 1)

Because of laziness......Anyone ever seen a thread on mounting a Viair 300p under the hood of a 3rd gen?
Buying today and plan to install there.
Eventually will add a second battery so I don't want to take up too much room in that empty space on the top left.

No reason for the PSI difference other than I thought it would be a way to still have air if the tank failed. From your post it sounds like I shouldn't use the regulator if I'm not running lockers?

I'm still learning the in's and out's of how to route the system and trying to learn as much as I can about it. What would you recommend to do based on my setup? I'm all ears, haven't plummed the system yet so still open to any and all input to make sure I do this right. Thanks for the advice brother.

You've got a good idea, just needs some finess. Yea you can loose the regulator since you're just using the system to air up tires. ARB has fairly strict requirements for pressure, so a regulator works great for that.

Awesome, so lose the regulator and run the quick disconnects from the tank. Other than that, do you see any flaws or changes I should make?

People who installed their air tanks inside the rear fenders: Talk to me.

What size tank were you able to fit in there?

    Any particular brand of tank?

What exactly did you mount it to?

    TIA.

I have the the ARB dual compressor with the manifold that I will be using to only air up tires at this point. No front locker, yet. But, it is on the list. So at this time I will be mounting both compressor and manifold under the hood with a Slee Offroad bracket. My question is the manifold. I get that the "arrow" goes to the compressors output port located in the center of the compressor. But, what about the two holes on top of the manifold (circled in red).. I know I can use one for putting a quick disconnect for airing up tires, but what do I need to do to the other port. Put a plug air fitting into it? Also, I would like to have a pressure relief valve. I want to bleed all the air out after use.. Should I mount the relief valve on the manifold? If so, where? One of the top holes, "T" fitting? Or, to the compressor using a "T" air fitting that has the pressure relief valve and the output to the manifold?

Put whatever you want in there. Remember the circled holes are 1/8 BSP

Ok, thank you. The circled holes are both outputs correct? I thought I remember reading that one could be used as an input? (Meaning I could run the hose from the compressor to one of the circled holes) Doesn't seem right... could be wrong on that. And, does anybody have a recommendation on my question regarding the pressure relief valve placement.

You could (with adapters) but that'd be silly since there's a line for that already.

Ran 8ga from my compressor behind the passenger taillight to the relay in the engine compartment. Does the Viair pressure switch require the same or can I safely use 16ga?
