Been having fitment issues with my headliner since I got my 16 Tacoma over a year ago. Had the headliner replaced and same issue persists. The headliner is cut short I suppose near the front of the driver front door jamb. The edge of it pops out from under the moulding. I've tucked it back under several times and it just works it's way back out. I've about lost my patience with Toyota USA since every time I call for my case manager she's unavailable. She calls me back while I'm at work and every time I'm elbow deep in work and can't answer. They need to change their business hours to give people time after work to make calls.

Anyways, I was told they are supposed to be fixing the problem and installing new headliners to fit correctly. That was about a year ago and still no solution. I would think something as simple as an adjusted headliner wouldn't take over a year to fix. Anyone else had this issue or any knowledge of it?

My truck is in the shop as we speak getting 15k maintenance as well as investigating some cornering noises, differential recall and having to replace my 3rd light for leaking. Not exactly thrilled with my experience with this truck so far. Sorry, just gotta blow the steam a bit.

Thanks, hammer. I tried searching, but didn't yield any results for some reason. Maybe I'll try wording my search differently. I just wanted to let you know that I did try searching first.

Top-right corner of the page, click the search, type in "headliner," then check the "search titles only" and "search this forum only" options. That'll narrow-down the results enough to get you what you need:

I appreciate the quality in my truck. As I already said, its fit and finish is on par with today's vehicles. I'm also one that doesn't have issues either. I absolutely love my truck and the way it drives and performers. Sure the power band in the auto could be better but again Toyota isn't alone trying meet today's EPA standards. Look at your beloved F150. A 10speed? You gotta be shitting me.

Nice, we're doing a multiple thread battle.

So my counter point.....every car has issues, particularly first iterations of a generation. What's your point? Thank heavens Tacoma world is a great resource to find and solve problems ;)

Yah bout that @MuttieMan, sorry I couldn’t help you there, I would If I could but I usually just google.
But it’s all in the technique here, I’m still learning and I knew someone would jump right in to help you out.
This is a great community here these guys do help all b/s aside.

Hope you enjoy the forum even though having issues I would have to imagine must be pita.

The headliners appear to be in short supply, one fellow has been waiting for a year or is getting the run around by the stealer.
IDK what’s happening maybe one machine is working around the clock to supply the assembly line and no spares for now but who knows?

Yeah, I feel like I'm getting the run around from, not only the dealer, but Toyota USA bc the case managers are impossible to contact. I figured it was more their job to be available to answer my call; not the other way around.

And as far as quality guys, I'm just venting bc it's frustrating. Overall, this Toyota feels more solid than most other vehicles out there. The little stuff here and there just adds up to a lot of frustration though. Then, I have to drive about an hour to a decent dealership. I realize there will be issues. I just didn't expect all this early on. At least my diff wasn't leaking. Sure would like a new headliner though. My new 3rd light will be installed tomorrow.

Maybe you got the extra wide Tacoma, and they fitted it with a standard width headliner?:notsure:

Totally get the frustration drift MuttieMan.
And It is the little things like over tightened wheel lugs that cause vibrations and braking pulsation, loose diff fasteners that cause leaks that require a trip to the stealer and then they don’t use a torque wrench on the lug nuts and the problem is still there all add up, especially on an hr drive.

My nearest stealer is only a 20 min. drive and I only went there once to pick up oem oil filters as I do all my own maintenance therefore I can relate to the drive not to mention the time wasted there.
This is what manufacturers don’t want to understand, our time is valuable. But then that’s precisely why they want us there? But they piss ppl off in the end.

They and the stealers want you to visit often, hence the free 2 yr “free Toyota care” so they can either trade you into a new smelly vehicle that has the latest options, colors or sell you some accessory you see there, because for sure they don’t do all they’re supposed to do else ppl wouldn’t be having all these issues.
Kind of like a “free alignment check” if you buy a new set of tires and they tell you, oh you need a new set of shocks or your tires will cuff, or you’ll need a new set of brakes soon, we have a especial today.

Sorry for the rant, but that may just be to remind myself why I avoid a trip to the stealer lolo!

But keep after them on the headliner with calls letter, emails the works and keep us updated.

    Best of luck
    Cheers!

Mine doesn't fit. Took it to the dealer. They not only won't fix it but made it worse.

I makes the truck look like such a pos. Enough that I'm almost willing to shell out the 1000+ dollars to fix it.

Do not do that erok81, you paid too much for the truck!
Call Toyota corporate and start a case file number and stay on them until they fix it, they usually will.

Don't pay for anything while under the 3/36k bumper to bumper warranty, unless you somehow screwed up, and even then sometimes they'll work with you. Try different dealers?

I did. They told me whatever the dealer says goes. They have me a case number but that doesn't really mean anything when they said no.
