Hey guys, I am an Land Rover Addict and just bought a sweet 2nd gen in Texas with stock audio here off of TW. I will be driving the truck back next weekend and it is a 15 hour drive. Maybe I am just a spoiled millennial but I'm not sure I can drive that long without my Spotify.

Is there any quick alternative to enable an auxiliary audio input? With Rovers you could swap out a quick cord in the back of the stock head unit and run your phone through the "CD" option.

Loving the forum so far and really looking forward to learning more! These trucks are actually reliable, no telling what trouble ($$) I will get in with some of these upgrades!

So this thread isn't wasted. After some digging the quickest and most effective methods for a quick fix auxiliary audio input are a Bluetooth FM signal adaptor (Plug into cigarette lighter...connect device via Bluetooth...transmits through empty FM station).

Or there is a Toyota-specific adaptor that can be found here:

Auxillary Adapter,Yomikoo Car Radio 3.5mm Audio Input Adapter

This device uses an empty slot in the back of the stock head unit and works using the alternative 'CD-1' option. Keep in mind, you can also play a CDs with full functionality. Just swap between 'CD' and 'CD-1'

Grom and USA-spec are the perferred brands around. The other probably work, I used something similar to what you posted in my wifes Honda, the functionality is a little Hokey.

There is a method of "hijacking" the CD signal if you are into taking apart your radio and soldering.

Ah, I understand this thread now, needed to see the date of the posts. Is it working out well for you, just checking in from the previous thread? I'm still having problems with mine. Now one of my rear speakers seems to be going out too.

So this device was perfect for what I needed! 5 minute installation and worked flawlessly throughout the trip. Do not expect stunning audio quality but it certainly got the job done. Only watch-out would be charging your phone at the same time as playing music through this device, it causes feedback.

This is an easy and inexpensive clean way to have auxiliary capability in a Tacoma
