Hey all, quick question and sorry if it's a dumb one, I'm still learning. My 2014 prerunner is in the shop right now getting a 3" front, 2" rear leveling kit installed with 285/70r17. Am I going to be okay with my stock shocks? My mechanic is afraid I lost height because it looks like they were fighting the rear blocks.

I'm in the same boat right now, 3" front, 2" back, stock TRD blue/yellow shocks. The rear is really stiff driving because they aren't extended length shocks and they are pulling the leafs up. The front is stiff because I'm running a stock non trd/non progressive spring on a TRD shock ( I know, stupid) If you are going to stick with the leveling kit, make sure to get some SPC UCA's, you're going to need the adjustment, I'm having major problems with alignments on stock UCA's. Only other thing is if you're keeping the trac bar, get a spacer kit for it too. It needs it or it will rub on the coils. If you want my honest opinion, I should have spent the money and gone with billies all around and topped lift at 2in. But who knows, you may prefer the spacer, I for sure do not.

I would think the shocks would be topping out. At least get some rear shocks for a 2" lift. They're cheap and easy to install.

And on the front 3" I wouldn't do any off-roading. If you compress your suspension too hard you will destroy your shocks because your shocks are now acting as bump stops. (Or get extended bumpstops)

You may need new UCAs as well for alignment.

Back shocks are not long enough they will top out. Get some that are for a 2" lift. Also put some spacers on the stock bump stops or get new ones.

I know my best bet is buying new shocks which, eventually I want to do. However what's your take on just getting shock extenders for now? I'm not doing any off-roading. This is my daily driver

I would suggest not too, but its your truck and your choice, the shock extenders from BilsteinLifts look ok: https://bilsteinlifts.com/shop/toyota-tacoma/2005-2015/shock-extenders-2005-toyota-tacoma/ I would take a look around though before purchasing because there really isnt any reviews of it just yet. If you get some new shocks instead and you want to save a little and purchase used with light miles, take a look on the 2nd gen marketplace on here or take a look at your local Craigslist, usually someone is selling some shocks, just make sure they are extended length to work with a 1-3in lift, from what I've read, you can get shocks for 1-3in rear lift or 4-6in rear lift. Just make sure you get the 1-3in extended length for 2005-2015 to work properly with your truck.

My advice is to not get new UCAs. They're ~$500 plus install. For another hundred bucks, you can get a proper lift with Bilstein 5100s all around, OME coils in the front and an Add A Leaf in the rear. You'll sit right at ~2.5" in the front and will most likely not need new UCAs. Here's my truck with that lift and 285s

Exactly, I was just giving multiple suggestions, it's his truck. I just don't know how hard it would be for him to swap and sell what he has, that's the only reason I suggested SPC's UCA's.

I went with a 2.5 in front 1 inch block in back level kit on my Prerunner. I'm running 265 Toyo tires. I didn't have to change out anything else but, your level and tire size is more aggressive. I think my ride is as good as stock.

Thanks for the help everyone! I've decided to just say screw it and get some 5100's all around. Didn't want to risk it with the extensions and I definitely can't afford new uca's Hoping to have it all done soon so I can upload some pics on here too!

Congrats man, you're going to love the 5100's! Hopefully you can sell the spacers for some money.

Yeah I sure will! Rookie mistake not getting them in the first place. First truck, first lift

Same here, I'm getting 5100's myself soon, but they are mainly for the next owner, I'm probably going to sell my 07 Taco for a Tundra.

Get bilstein 5100s on 0 with Old Man EMU 884 coils. That'll lift your front ~2.5"
