Is it possible to make OEM seats heated without adding seat covers or replacing the upholstery? Has anyone done it?
I would like to add some nice covers but I keep getting side tracked with other cool crap to buy!

Appears the heating element can be installed under the seat cloth, but seems a lot of work:

I did this without issue using these (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FVXAC7Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1).

The trick to removing the oem cover is the get some needle nose pliers that fit in the hog clips when closed, then spreading the pliers to open the clips. Took me about 2-3 hours per seat. This site helped quite a bit (http://www.lieblweb.com/heatedseat.html)

After installation though, one of the rocker switches was broken (drivers seat heater on high when switch was in off position). Instead of dealing with customer service, i just ordered a replacement https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YC1GAMU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.

I've had no issues and have used them on a few long trips (2+ hours).
