That definitely helps. I've seen some people use a thick fabric mesh behind siding too that's supposed to help it breath and shed any water that gets behind. This seems like it would work just as well if not better.

I use mesh as well , always behind wood sidewall shingles , sometimes in strips in combination with plywood strips behind board and batten

I use this stuff but have also used Home Slicker before , but Keene Driwall is a better product

That matrix looks similar to the matrix in Driwall , its more sturdy than Home Slicker so it doesn't cave in when you nail near the edges of the roll

One more thing I did the other day was change out a light switch for a WeMo switch. It controls the exterior light automatically from dusk to dawn but it can be programmed lots of other ways.

It would have been nice if the tract home builder would have plumbed the walls so eventually I need to fix the gap around the plate. The idiot painter caulked the plate to the wall.

I think there's a larger size plate for most styles (holes)

I've stained our deck twice now since we've owned our house. The first time I used Olympic Semi-transparent from Lowes and it went on well. Just last weekend I went to a local paint store that sells Benjamin Moore and asked them which stain is better, Arborcoat or Cabot(which they sell this also). The salesman said even though the Cabot is more expensive, the Arborcoat has a better color scheme and better going on. So I bought the Arborcoat and it was so smooth and easy to apply. I went with the Solid water based stain for the deck floor and then I had to use regular exterior paint for the rails b/c the previous owner used paint. I am pleased with the product and will more than likely keep using Arborcoat if it holds up well. Benjamin Moore FTW!!!

I actually just got back from a Benjamin Moore store. They have TPW and arbor coat. I'm going with oil based. But would like to hear more about the arbor coat.
Anyone else used the oil based Benjamin Moore arbor coat? Or TPW ( I think made by flood)

He does and I'm sure he'll jump in. I think I've heard him talk about sikkens in the past, just not sure of their quality now that they started selling at home depot.
I'm also considering ordering online... I have been reading great things about armstrong Clark stain, but doesn't look like it's sold anywhere near me.

Finished up our window prep prior to receiving our windows today

This is one of my favourite products , lets you lay down a seamless sill flashing , it stretches and will countour to curves in 2 planes . Way easier and better than trying to piece in Blueskin or similar peel and stick
