another of my double cab rattles solved

I was getting a plastic-type rattle from the rear seat area, sounded like the seat belts or something in a cargo bin. Hard to isolate without having someone to drive me around. This was an impact rattle, expansion joints, pavement cracks. Turned out to be the grab handles. Looking at them, one side has a spring-not the problem. The other side is loose due to the lack of the spring and if you tap you will find a lot of slop. I am sure felt would work. I had an assortment of rubber plugs left over from the a-arm fix and a couple of them fit quite nicely in the handle cutout. Problem solved.

Holy shit. I had a rattle that didn't go away until my mom sat in the back seat. She always uses those handles. She must have pulled it and fixed something inside it

You know what might be the cause of the rattle i have under my dash on the passenger side? It comes around under light acceleration. Just curious. Haha

The one on the passenger side dash is a source of noise for many, it rubs on the A pillar if not mistaken

 

If you had a 3rd Gen I could probably suggest a few things..

 

I read a post a while back about a wiring harness in the area under the glove box. Tapping on the blower housing or something. Have a look. There is also a wire harness under the passenger seat that gets close to the plastic floor vent depending on how the seat is positioned fore to aft.

 

I did not even notice he has a 2nd Gen

I agree it should not be rattling but my advice applied to 3rd Gens

 

I know. But when in need, you will grab any source you can.

 

I have noticed a rattle on rough surface the last week. Just checked my grab handles. Both are loose. Add that to the list for my 10K service. Along with my radio randomly going to split screen on start up. Already had it replaced once for that. There is a reflash to fix it. First radio wouldn't reflash.
