I won't bore everyone with the background on my little dilemma I seem to be facing. Long story short, it seems the oil on my K&N filter might have gotten sucked up into the intake and is the culprit of a rough start when the engine is cold. As a result, I need to clean my MAF sensor. I was about to pick up a bottle of CRC MAF sensor cleaner when I read that you should not use the product on Kármán vortex type sensors. An example was a Supra and I have read that other Toyota's also use this sort of MAF sensor. Even though the V6 engine is very high performance like a Supra (sarcasm), it's not turbocharged so hopefully we don't have that type of sensor. Can anyone confirm that the V6 does not use a Kármán vortex sensor? Has anyone else cleaned their MAF sensor yet?

Sounds like a hot wire MAF to me; no mention of a photocell.

I'm pretty sure I answered this exact question in your other thread about this.

Not exactly. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate your input however this topic is in relation to the exact MAF sensor used in the 2016+ Tacoma and whether it's safe to clean with CRC MAF Sensor Cleaner or not. Also, in this thread I asked for input from other people who have cleaned their sensors or not.

You aren't off roading with that K&N filter, right?

Just curious, what's wrong with the K&N filter?

Almost 7 years… k&n filters still don’t filter even all these years later.
