I'm not sure about now, but in years past they would open the trails in between Lake City and Silverton. That may be worth checking out.

In a time crunch in AK before leaving for WA I had the dealer change my fluids before the trip... didn't realize until I went to clean my filter that these fools changed my AEF for a normal filter

Ignoring the kettle/pot issue of me bringing this up, but um aren't you with the wrong crew there? They all seem to be driving an incorrect vehicle.

Just friends who all have the wrong vehicles... On the second annual run.

I'll wheel with whoever wants to wheel, not picky.

I see you have made it a few miles from previous pic, very impressive given the number of Heeps in your run. You might actually make it 20-25 miles at this rate. :D

I discovered this probably 10 years ago or so, while climbing Handies Peak on Mothers Day Weekend. There was a D7 parked off the side of Cinnamon Pass, and they opened the road to Silverton. It was pretty cool to drive through 20' tall canyons of snow! Turns out they like to get the trails open as early as possible because of their tourism based economy.

Yep, I always laugh when people say they "plow" the passes open when they Doze it and it looks sketchy as hell watching them do it. I think Target For Telluride passes is before the 4th of July. Imogene Pass has that snow wall usually all summer long up top.
