Went into my garage yesterday and heard some noise. Thought it was the injectors at first but the car was off for several hours. Finally crawled under the car and realized it was coming from the rear diff. I should have put a flash light to it but you can definitely hear the noise. Anyone ever have this issue before?



Don't know how long it was going on for before I came into the garage. It was going on for at least 2-3 minutes while I was in there. I've engaged the locker 2x in the 8 months I've had this truck.

 

Oh I think I've heard this one before a time or two but it isn't the rear diff....

 

Fuel pump?

 

Read page 8 of owners manual

Approximately five hours after the engine is turned off, you may hear sound coming from under the vehicle for several minutes. This is the sound of a fuel evaporation leakage check and it does not indicate a malfunction.

Bingo. The leak test.

 

Is the fuel pump located in the very back of the tank? The noise sounded like it was coming from the rear diff, rather than the gas tank.
