    Im really thinking of getting this for the wifes 2nd gen. Motor off the start feels like it has a dead spot and I need to give a good 30% throttle to get it to move the same compared to my old 4runner that needs about 5% throttle.

    Exactly why I posted this in here. While it may work for some, there is no way in hell I'd risk a couple thousand dollar bill just for slightly improved throttle response.

    If you are not able to install an electrical component without shorting and killing your ECU you should not be installing it.

    That's not what was discussed. The member in that thread ran a pedal commander for awhile, and then it all of a sudden shorted out his ECU. Nothing to do with the installation. See Below.

    That sucks. Wonder how many times this has happened. Electronic failures are not uncommon. If I was scared to install parts because one person had a failure I would not have had installed anything. Everything I have installed on my truck or cars has probably failed on someone. Sucks when this happens. But thats life and Im not scared to install a different product because one person posted a failure.

    Thank you, apparently someone should read the post throughly before making comments. Btw, I have been wiring stereos, amps, lights, ect. since highschool so I know I am competent. Sounds like if you dont know that it is a simple plug and play install then maybe you should read up on a product before you shoot off your mouth. Ok sorry, I wont throw anymore stones. If I could do it again I would have gone sprint booster instead.

    The thing that bothers me more than anything about the pedal response is when you go to rev the engine in neutral it takes forever to come back to idle. Will this resolve that issue. Tks

    Maybe I should clarify that I don't have any intension of screwing around with my pedal or related components after what happened. In fact I wouldn't have even posted about it if the company had taken the time to respond to my messages. I didn't think they would do anything to help. Figured they would say they cant be held liable for any damages incurred from using their product. Or perhaps offer to reimburse me the money spent in return for it to get shipped back to them for testing to find possible causes which led to it shorting out the ecu. But I wasn't holding my breath. What really bothered me was they didn't even respond. What the hell kind of customer service is that? So I considered my options and plan on telling everyone about it. I also have both the old ecu and pedal commander unit so perhaps small claims court. Doubt it will do any good but if I try maybe they will get the point. URD on the other hand I have heard nothing but positive things about.

    But this isn't the Throttle Commander. Maybe very similar but a different company all together. Not that I'm going to buy one. I'd assume with many after market products there's a chance of something going wrong.

    There is no difference at all. It basically shortens the pedal travel, gets you to 100% throttle faster. It feels more responsive but there is no actual difference.

    It simply amplifies the throttle position signal.

    I admit though, it makes the truck feel great. I had it on both my last second gens. Just don't think it adds power or reduces throttle delay because it does none of that.

    If you have the money to spare, they do feel nice.

    I have one on my Jetta. If I can find another one for the taco for the same price I'll buy it again.

    Theyre worth it and it is a noticable improvement on the shitty fly by wire throttle

    Ya it doesn't actually give you more power but it did make it feel that way. Wish I had saved all that money and gone supercharger but lesson learned. My wife asked about her 4runner at first but now she saw what happened and agrees with the "you want more hop? Mash it" theory. IMO save your money, get a real upgrade, I shouldve.
