Heated seats and a couple of other things.

Giving the truck a lil love with heated seats and a wireless charging phone cradle.
I'm anal in that I want things to look like they belong there. Spent a little time thinking how and what I was gonna do and this is what I came up with.

Thanks to @gunny1005 from camelback for the lower dash panel and for digging around to get this in his hands, and sending pics so I can compare it to the stock one sent by mistake. From the back, all the mounting points were the same, so I bought it. As you can see in the pics, the heater controls required some sculpting to be done to the panel.

And thanks @Lostsheep for the ram mount mount. This was exactly the sort of thing I was looking for.

Now I just gotta find the time to rip the lower dash panel out.

 

Turns out the shindig I thought was today is tomorrow. Got busy and installed the wiring for the seat heaters and installed the ram mount mount.

Started by taking the center console apart. 2 bolts under the carpet in the armrest/storage. Then 4 screws under the shift trim and the whole thing came apart in 2 pieces.
The lower dash panel itself has 2 bolts, one behind the console on the right side and one hidden behind the little cubby to the left. It's sandwiched between 2 pieces of metal.

After unplugging the cig lighter and power outlet, is see that they are sleeved into a bezel. The power outlet has a plastic tab that you push out from inside then push out from the back.

The cig lighter has a backwards L. stick a screwdriver in and tweak the corner of the L up into the lighter and push it out from the back.

As for the seat heat wiring, I put the relays behind the radio as there was a convenient ground available. I used a #14 awg zip cord to bring 2 circuits from the battery to the relays. I cut the fuse holder off the relay and moved it to the battery. The wires for the heating elements are more than long enough in this kit and are stored next to the shifter until I take the seats out..


Gotta find a new home for the electric brake controller. Would have had to cut a lot out to keep it under the new switches


Still messing with where I want the phone,
And the controls for the heaters sit further back than I though they would, but they're out of harm's way should a coffee or soda spill and I expect to have a lil light in that pocket at night.
