    Had the TSB bearing from Toyota installed today. No more vibrations.

    man you got lucky cause I tried doing that and of course they cant hear the hum and shit so I got fed up dealing with them since it was like my 3rd time going in I just bought the kit and installed it no more sound now. I also talked to few members on here who did it at the dealer and the new bearing is hella more better and will kill the humming vibe sounds

    That is a possibility. This bearing is covered under warranty for at least another 25000 miles till I hit 60000 and it's free. I didn't see the point in giving ECGS money for a bushing if this bearing works.

    Some dealerships are like that. I drove a extra 40 miles to another dealership I knew would fix it. Some just wanna sell trucks and to hell with the customers after the sale. The dealer I went to installs lift on new tacomas all the time so I knew they wouldn't mind correcting the problem.

    So just replaced the bearing on my 2015. Had slop in the axle before the lift and was even worse after. This time went a lot faster then my last Tacoma. Stuck the bushing in the freezer for two hours and it popped right in. Course I rounded of the threads for the axle nut fixed that. But have this sneaking suspicion the axle didn't fully seat in the diff. So gonna keep my eye on that see if any oil starts to leak.
    All in all it got rid of a lot of slop and matches the passenger side in terms of up down play.

    Is the ECGS puller really that much better then using a claw and slide hammer. I am trying the claw/slide hammer method and I have torn the needle bearing up but it won't come out. Hasn't even budged. I even tried making my own version of the ECGS puller but it just bent the steel plate before it moved the needle bearing

    Uh yes that's why we all use them pullers and not redneck one up and have your issue lol. Right tool for the job.

    Well from what I gathered in this thread many members have done it using basic auto parts loner tools which is why I gave it a shot. Sorry I'm from the south and have redneck tendencies.

    Yeah the blind hole puller for free from Autozone works just fine. No redneck needed. It is the right tool for the right job. I would prefer one that pulls from a bridge versus the slide hammer, but it was free so all was good. I did remove the front bumpstop to give me room for my hand and you'll need a large adjustable or some man hands to tighten up the large collet on the puller.

    The ECGS puller is purpose built, simple, effective, and affordable. I prefer free. Free worked for me.

    Thank you to everyone that helped pinpoint this problem and ECGS for making the bushing and tool. My truck runs better than when it came off the lot and it's a 2012. I had the TSB needle bearing done. For me it was a waste of time. The original needle bearing had a ridiculous amount of slop at the cvaxle. The TSB one was better, but still had allot of play. It didn't fix the vibes. The ECGS bushing has very little play. Almost the same as the passenger side. Vibrations are gone, whining sound I thought was coming from transmission is gone, steering is tight, and I think I'm getting one to two mpg better. I'm still watching my fuel economy, but it looks good. I'm not exactly sure how it effected my fuel economy, or if it's all in my head ahahaha. I had it done at my local import shop. The guys down there are honest and do good work. They charged me $220 including tax for the labor. If anyone lives around the Orange county NY area and is interested, Village Auto Works,1137 State Route 17m, Chester, NY 10918 Phone: 845 783-6764. They have the tool, so all you need is the bushing, Toyota seal and 2 quarts of Lucas 85w140. Thanks again Tacoma world for helping me fix my truck. It was driving me nuts, since day one.

    First off thanks to all who have found this issue and have come up with a solution to fix it. As I just put 6112 on my truck this weekend I discovered the growl on my first drive and have ordered the bushing to replace the bearing. I see most people offer here to buy a puller from someone who has already done the service. I was curious if anyone could post dimension to the puller for me to make my own (I'm a machinist by trade) and have more time then money so to speak, so if anyone has a pair of calipers to throw on a puller I'd appreciate it (really only need the foot dimensions, the bar is straight forward)! I do however live in the southwest corner of Michigan if anyone is in that area and I can borrow the puller for a deposit! Thank you in advance for any info!

    Did you use Lucas 85w140 gear oil? It's suppose to help with the slop from the spider gear.
