Depends on a lot. I get my allowance and the rest goes to the joint acct which she handles. Reason being I'm a spender and she's not

I got barely under 30K for mine last summer for insurance. I was happily surprised. Made buying the new truck a whole lot easier, and the reason I was able to get the model I wanted. What killed me was I had decided to pay off the small balance I had, and then the stupid accident happened.

For what it's worth, marriage doesn't have to be the death knell in modifying vehicles. My wife hasn't batted an eye on anything I've done. If anything, I'm usually the one asking if it makes sense to spend cash on X or Y.

That being said, when baby is here, I'll be definitely down on cash, but my wife has never been one to say don't spend money on stuff. When we first got married we sat down and set up a budget that works for both of us and basically gives us autonomy with our spending cash while keeping bills paid and savings in the bank.
