    dealer wanted $150 each. Pass
Can anyone give me part numbers for a 2003 Tacoma prerunner 3.4
Interested in moog lower ball joints. Already have new oem upper's
Also interested in part numbers for inner and outer tie rod ends, lefts and rights on the outer's.
Is there a preference outside of OEM for the tie rod ends. If not, moog will be fine.
Truck is driven off road, and only gets about 10,000 miles a year.
She just hit 200k, thought I would freshen up the front end on this long weekend.
Thanks in advance for any info shared.

I have moog 555 lowers and tie rods. They work just fine.
I am sure you can find oem for 100.00 each online. Search in the forum for websites. eBay and Toyota Dallas usually have it for around 100.00 each.

Go to Rockauto.com and look them up for your truck. I use it all the time, and it's great! A lot of independent shops around here use Rock Auto to get their parts too because they're so reasonably priced; even when shipping is included!

I recommend not using moog since they used to be an economy line that would make crap quality parts and undercut all the competitors just to sell their product. Now they just sell over valued crap parts and people think they're ok cause they've been around for so long.

Go with Mevotech or ACDelco products at least.

Ball joints are not something I'd be looking for cheap aftermarket deals on especially if driven off-road

    Yes, Mevotech.

Rumors are that NAPA sells Mevotech reboxed. My auto parts store sells Mevotech and I haven't really had any issues with them.

As far as ACDelco selling moog555, I don't know much about who makes their parts. If you say ACDelco uses Moog parts reboxed, then I'll say stay away from ACDelco as well.

I had 3 incidents with them on one of my '96 tacos. Once one brocke 150 miles outside Las Vegas on some lone 4x4 trail. I walked 7 hours to the next pavement.... hired another 4x4 to get my truck out of there etc... thousands of $$ later I resumed my trip. But I learned about the LBJ fuckup from Toyota then.... actually the only time I was really disappointed with a Toyota design.

Do you have any stories of MOOG failing and falling short of being a good product? We have used MOOG ball joints for years in BITD desert racing, and they hold up unbelievably great.

Personally? No, I've haven't used moog in any of my vehicles yet. I do have a set of moog control arms waiting to be installed, which I'm only installing because I don't plan to 4X much anymore. All I really know are what some of the guys on this forum say about the quality from AutoZone or O'Reilly's.

I replace mine every couple years (lifetime warranty) because they are shit. I would go OEM if I could go back in time. 100,000+mi for most OEM balljoints and about 10,000 for Moog.
And yes, I grease them regularly.

You don't need a time machine to replace them woth Toyota ball joints.

I must disagree with your opinion that moog are shit. Also I get way more than 10k miles on them with regular offroad use.

I find it hard to buy oem now that I get moog replacements for free under warranty. It's just my time to swap them.

You can defend aftermarket ball joints as much as you like, I'm happy you are satisfied. The fact still remains that no one needs to replace original OEM balljoints until after 100k miles (some last even longer) whereas aftermarket don't come anywhere close to that. Even the better quality versions are still poorer than oem.

Dealer is way to proud of there lower ball joints at $130.00 each.
Have never had any problems with any Moog products in the past. I have moog ball joints and tie rod ends in my diesel dodge, no problems. Moog were more then half the price, no brained to me. I bought Oem upper ball joints, but they were not priced any different then any other descent product. I as well purchased Oem inner and outer tie rod ends.
Buy what you want, I made a decision not spend a rediculous amount of money on a part that could be had for half price, and still be a perfectly fine part from a reputable company.

Someone's torn apart these bj's from other companies and seen the difference in construction.
