I Wanted to share a MOD I did for the poor man and its pretty easy. Mounted a Yakima Megawarrior Basket with he extension on a shell with Yakima racks and no crossbars. Got this idea form fourfa on Expedition Portal. So much props for him for showing me this. Just wanted to share some pics and some info.
I used 60' Yakima Rails for the shell.
    https://www.amazon.com/Yakima-Control-Tower-Tracks-60-Inch/dp/B0012SC1OM/ref=sr_1_sc_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1495836786&sr=1-1-spell&keywords=yakima+ctracks&th=1&psc=1

I added a third set of brackets like fourfa said to do got them off Amazon.
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001T89MUQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Measuring is pretty Important. Measure the basket before installing rails. I used Carriage Bolt 3/8" X 2 Stainless Steel Bolts and hardware for the brackets. I drilled them out to 3/8 because they are smaller and wanted to beef them up. Might have to wiggle them down the track. They are all not alike so some slide right in and some you have to move along the track with a flat head and rubber mallet.
I Build some 1/2" Brackets out of square aluminum and painted them black. Lifts it up just a little bit more for weight in the basket and sagging. I drilled the top hole 3/8 and the bottom hole of the aluminum bracket a little bigger so a small part of the base of the carriage bolt sits inside of it.
Going to work on some security bolts son.
Let me Know if you have any questions

Directions are pretty spot on with the tracks. They come with silicone to seal them up.

Great idea. Did adding the basket kill your MPG?

lol, double cab 6cyl and mpg was already toast with the shell. Rack didn't help but also didn't make it any worse as far as I can recall :notsure:

I’m looking to do this exact mod! Do you remember approximately how far apart the rails were? I have rails pre installed on my cap, trying to figure out if they’re too wide, and whether to installed cross bars or drill to the roof..

    Thanks!

Big thanks for posting. This saved me from dropping $400+ on a roof rack setup.:thumbsup:

Recently discovered the A.R.E Ascend basket which works with roof rails. Mounts spotlights too.

Do you still have this? I'm located in Ventura and would love to take it off your hands. Would $200 work? I already have rails just interested in the rack and mounting hardware
