LED Hood Scoop Mod

Just going to assume that the 2016 Tacos have smaller hood scoops too

 

How to do something similar to what I've done I put a Aries Pro Series grille guard on my truck with a 30-inch built-in light bar and trust me it is super bright

Thanks OP! Just finished on my 2011 hood scoop. A couple small hitches: lost the little plastic doodad that screws into the center of the scoop (slid down inside the center hood support while it was up), but not worried... anymore

And: Oh, yeah... don't let a crappy harness arc the battery wires and melt them to shit!

Other than that: super sweet and satisfies the sneaky kid in me.

 

I hate the sport hood, would trade in a second for the non-scoop. But thought of the same idea a couple weeks ago, but was curious about the hood glare. Kudos to you for answering that question, but in the vid it looked like the passanger side had a little glare/reflection. I didn't like the color temp, but the fill was impressive. Points for being stealth, curious if people even notice the upgrade?

I was thinking of Cylons (Battle Star Galactica) red eye but the Kitt car makes more sense. It would be cool when you start it up if it did that scan a few times, or car alarm.

Anyone have a non-scoop carbon fiber hood? You like it? That was the other solution I was thinking to get rid of the scoop, or trade out. But I'm like this mod, thinking twice.

I did the same thing a while back. I only use it when offroad but to my suprise I haven't had any glare off the hood. With it off it is set back far enough where you dont even know its in there unless your looking for it.

As long as they are off while you are driving anywhere with pavement... You should be fine (worst case scenario, get a cover for it, perfectly legalizes them). I have a quad LED pod setup, have had no issues with the law enforcement here in Glendale, CA (we have the strictest PD known in CA)... I even had them on as I drove past an officer on the opposing side of the road, he didn't even care (perhaps on a call going somewhere with his lights off). No matter what, make sure to check with your local governments laws and regulations as well as the counties and states... I'm not gonna pay for ur ticket lol

 

So I found this on TacomaBeast https://tacomabeast.com/products/12-g3-single-row-led-light-bar they are 12" x 1 3/4. Does anybody know if they will fit on my 2016 hood scoop ?

 

Seriously... What are the dimensions of our 3rd gen hood scoops???

 

It'd be great to drop one of these 10" Rigid Adapts in the hood scoop and then have a highlight color when you're just driving around.

I have to be honest . When I first got my truck , the first thing I thought was , I'm going to stick a light in that scoop.
