So I noticed rust ? Corrosion ? Happening on the Chrome part of my grill (I thought this was plastic lol) how can I fix this ? Use Semi chrome polish ? And how can I keep it from continuing and getting worse ?

    IMG_5592.jpg IMG_5595.jpg

Also on my roof I have these bad chips , how could I fix this without getting the roof repainted at a body shop ?
Could I just use a touch up pen ? I want to do something BEFORE it "spreads" or gets worse . The size of the "big" one is about the size of a nickel maybe

    IMG_5593.jpg

I do plan on sealing the paint and waxing it in the future , but would like to fix these problems before hand without putting hundreds or thousands of $ into this . What is everyone's opinions on my options on these 2 ? What would you do ?

    Thanks !!!

The chrome is toast. You can probably pick up replacement in the marketplace here. A lot of people hate the chrome.

Yeah grill is junk. You can Plasti-Dip or sand it down, paint and cover with 2k clear coat our replace it.

The roof is a mess. You can feather those out and then paint and blend in a clear. It won't look great but way better.

Believe it or not I remember seeing a diy method of restoring chrome using coca cola and aluminum foil. The foil is used as a scrub pad.

Also there are mobile auto paint services that can fix those paint issues. Much cheaper than a truck repaint.

That's not rust on there the chrome wore off the plastic . Nothing you can do but replace, or repaint. As far as the roof I'd prob either line x or repaint. Any kind of band aid you put on there won't last and just be an issue down the road.

    Haha that's pretty crazy !

I might look into that thanks

So the grill is plastic with a chrome coating I'm taking it ? I might also paint it flat black possibly or plastidip it . I'll have to look at other trucks that have it flat black now and see what I think . As far as the roof I'm really leaning towards a paint pen of sorts and maybe some clear nail polish to cover it ... I dunno yet , I really really don't want to spend 500 or 1000 bucks to have a body shop redo it . I myself don't have a garage or body shop tools to do painting . I could hand sand it possibly ? And do what angysam suggested

It's most likely shiny plastic over plastic...faux chrome LOL. Plastidip or rhino lining on the grill would be awesome...a real upgrade.

The dealership near me has been doing several rhino lining mods on grills lately. It looks great and gives it a rugged look.

Could be metallic contaminants in the chrome that are rusting. Clay bar would help that.
I would just get a non-chrome grille. Chrome is ugly.
