3rd gen is a strange place. You post a unique useful upgrade and get ~30 replies, mostly critical. Someone in 3rd gen posts their mpg and gets 1500 replies and the thread takes off. I just don't understand.

I wonder if the early 2nd gens owners were the same way and the crowd changes as the model matures?

Seems likely. But rather than complaining about drivetrain they were probably complaining about the larger body vs 1st gen.

I cannot give you the life duration until one has failed. It's 10 months now and likely 100-150 hours at the moment. I suspect I may get another couple hundred hours or more from Flosser 90W bulbs.

I did have the Osram 85W bulbs in my headlights. I got 14 months and about 220 hours out of them.

Same boat, I cannot give a life report on something that hasn't failed yet. Still going strong a year later. H11 is a long life bulb, as a point of comparison high wattage Optilux H11s are rated at 500 hrs I believe.

I'm familiar with your ultimate headlight posts.. you talked a little about the extra heat that gets generated and the dangers inherent.. my question is how are the housing holding up over time? Any melting issues? I've been close to pulling the trigger on the whole setup inc the smoked oem housings. I'm just a little nervous about cooking them!

Wow, those Optilux do last a while. I bought a set and I can honestly say it was a big downgrade from the Flossers. The color was a higher Kelvin, but the output was not as good. Having the headlights at about 4300K (50W ballasts on OSRAM Nightbreaker D2S HID bulbs) and the Flossers att about 3900K gives a nice light array and mix of color to drive with.

There is an increase in temp, but it causes no changes to the headlight and/or foglight's physical condition.

I had the Ultimate Headlight Upgrade in for 13 months until I changed my stock housings for TRD Pro housings. My original housings I then retrofitted with projectors and BHLM. When I had them apart, they showed no signs of excessive heat.

Zero physical changes in my foglight either. I have not taken them apart, but from the outside, they still look stock and fresh.

Thanx.. like i said, I'm really close to buying.. the smoked lenses are the right amount of tint and they arent too obvious.. I don't want a spaceship / retrofit look.

Heat isn't an issue for the headlights, the large housings handle it plenty well. I've run this setup across several Toyotas for many years. For the small housing fogs it could be boarder line if you lived somewhere that was very hot and ran them in the extreme heat. I have had zero issues and my fogs still look like new from the outside.

Good info, I figured they wouldn't perform as well as the Flossers but first hand experience is great. I always recommend the non-coated performance bulbs for output and bulb life, but many people always request something whiter/less stock looking. I expect the Flossers to have similar 500hr bulb life.

    And they are OEM. :)

Smoked lenses? I would really hope you aren't speaking of the actual outer lens being tinted. That pretty much ruins the output of any light. Maybe you are speaking of the TRD Pro assemblies? Those only have the internal bezel in a darker grey chrome (smoked if you will) where the outer lens and reflective bowl are identical and OEM.

If you are to get ones with a darker bezel, be sure to get the actual Toyota ones and not like the Depo or others. Many of the aftermarket ones just are not up to par with quality.

Yes, the projectors with the halo lights in any color do look like space ships. I omitted those for my lights.

Nice! I guess we will have to wait and see the actual, but at 500 hours, that will take a while.
