I checked into a more complex version of the one listed here... I wonder is there were enough of us with Gen2 interested we could get a good price.

This is an old picture of my friend's truck. We just today put the RTT on a canopy and he's going to be looking to sell the bed rack/cover setup pictured above shortly if anyone is interested!

I'd be interested if it's available. Do you have any pics of it set up just closed? I'm down in Southern Oregon, so maybe it could work out.. Also is it water tight?

Ummm yes if it will fit a gen 2. I have been trying to find one or anyone who would make one for several months. I talked to he original guy who made it but he didn't say who he sold it to.

After talking to @Box Rocket since I really liked his design, I decided to jump in and learn how to weld in order to build a bed rack heavily inspired by his. Fun times - was a great learning experience, and has gotten me hooked on metalwork now in addition to woodworking. My wallet is sure to love that! Wrote up the story here, and will soon write up the RTT install and first trip.

Building the Bed Rack (did someone say "new tools"?)

Many thanks @Box Rocket for the design and for being awesome when I approached you about it.

I'm pretty sure he's not active. This thread has been dead forever. I PM'd him awhile back and never heard anything

They aren't that hard to make and would make a decent project after you get a little time under your belt. I made mine and just looked at his. I changed a little on it because the 1x1 tubing would look a little small on a 2nd gen. I went with 1x2 around the outside. 1x1 on the interior grid and 1x2 for the uprights. Weld some bolts on for a high lift and you're good to go. I drew mine out a piece of paper full size to see what I was going to do before I cut the first piece of steel. You don't need a big welder. One of the 125-140's would serve you fine. Buy one at a pawn shop and get to learning.

I'm still active. But like others mentioned I am not building my racks anymore. Too many other projects and I'm spread too thin. Nice work you guys that have built your own using essentially the same design I came up with. It definitely worked well for me and had some good features.

about done with my rack and want to say thank you Box Rocket for the design, as it was almost exactly what I was looking for in a rack. I just need to finish it up and get painted and mounted.
