Do we get a forum discount from Method? I don't see them listed in the vendor list..

FWIW I'm looking for the 310s in bronze, 20x9 +0

    Thanks!

Okay I'm highjacking my own thread to change the discussion up since I had my previous question answered..

    Considering running:

    Method 310s in bronze, 20x9 +0

    Nitto 420s 285/50/20

The reason I chose these sizes is because of this thread here, it's exactly the same dimensions as this: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/1st-post-hope-you-can-help.186618/

I think it looks pretty solid: https://www.tacomaworld.com/media/263229/

Not a fan of the wheels but I liked the stance; I'm not into the offroad look so that's why I'm using these tires. Had them on my Silverado SS and they did awesome, but that truck is also a tank and was AWD...

    My questions:

They offer a +18 (I think) of the same wheel, would it be better to run that? Or a better tire size?

It's a skinnier track I know and from what I can research on here +0 will give me more clearance to go full-lock. Unless I'm going to have problems with the +0 I'd like to run them because I like the wide look (I guess you could say I'm going for a road-oriented stadium truck look). Stock body/suspension right now, I don't want to go through lowering another truck so it's probably going to stay this way. I know I know...what a sin lowering a truck lol. My SS was tasteful.

Are you lifted at all or planning on lifting?

Or are you against a little trimming/grinding?

+18 would be a safer offset, but not give you as much of the wide stance you're looking for, although you *might* run into clearance issues with the UCA.

If I were you I'd get the wheel that you want and trim whatever needs to be trimmed. Worst case scenario you chop the cab mount and mud flaps(if you still have them)and the lower fender flare plastic. It's really not that intensive and worth it to get the stance you're looking for. I had a GS350 on air that I "altered" to fit the wheels I wanted. Taking a grinder to a Lexus was a mixture of emotions. :goingcrazy:

20's are usually frowned upon around here, but you've earned several cool points with me by posting the Supra.

Edit: Just read the part about stock suspension. You're definitely looking at some trimming no matter what offset you pick with that size tire. The 0 offset will put you into the cab mount which can be cut if you're willing.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the input. I knew I'd be shaking up the usual look of 16/17s and offroad tires, and that it won't be most people's cup of tea here. I actually would consider 18s but the tire options for that are pretty slim. They don't make many truck tires for the street in 18s. I'll do some more research though.

I'm definitely not against trimming when it comes to the body/mudflaps. I figured mudflaps would come off altogether. Cab mount? That sounds sketchy to be trimming...I'll go look a little closer in the fender wells and see if I can find what you mean.

Just to clarify: Further inwards (higher + offset) is gonna give me UCA clearance issues (I'm used to that, makes sense), further out is going to mean I have more trimming to do? That's the part that sounds odd, but yall have the experience.

I don't see why this tire size is so drastic, the OD is within 3% of the 265/65 original (?) size that's on there now: Also: Check post 89 here, he mentions he got these exact sizes on without suspension mods:

I'm going to DM him too now...

    So BrianWrightWS6 confirmed..

"No rubbing or any problems. Stock suspension. No trimming. I took my mudflaps off only because I wanted a cleaner look."

I think I'd be okay with the look of the 18s, but there's just no on-road tire in 18s that are tall enough to get close to the stock OD. I'll post some pics up when it's done. I don't think it'll look awful to the off-road crew here. The lip around the outside of these methods will make them look about 1" smaller anyway.

I've heard a lot of people say they run 33's with no rubbing or trimming, but MOST people report that they had major rubbing and did major trimming so I'd be careful.

Offset/width will play a HUGE role in if you will rub. Someone can run that sized tire and not rub much if he's running the right offset/width and if he's not really turning the truck in real world situations.

Just make sure you verify offset/width on the setups that say they don't rub.

The cab mount chop really isn't that big of a deal. It's very common, but you might not even need to do it depending on what offset you go with.

To give you an example, I rubbed pretty bad with just 265/70/17 with a ~3" lift. 0 offset on 9" wheels. SPC uppers allowed me to push the wheels forward enough to clear the cab mount and fenders.
