Can anybody share thoughts on upgrading the stereo for 2001 Tacoma...? I need input in the speaker department...? I was thinking small amp, 8 inch subwoofer, deck
and of course wanted to get some thoughts on the speaker size and locations..? I will say I'm not a bass bumper but I'm a clarity/nice rock and roll type of nut ! Please advise/recommend .....?

If you are not worried about pure bass then I wouldn't even worry with a subwoofer. I would look in to a good solid 6.5" component speaker system with a head unit and amp. I have a focal v2 polyglass 6.5" component system with a 4 channel Rockford fosgate amp and pioneer head unit and it sounds excellent. The 6.5 will give good bass especially in a higher end speaker.

Sound deadening will yield you just as good of results, if not better, than just upgrading speakers etc.

Putting a pair of $300 speakers in a tin drum of a door isn't doing you or the speakers justice.
