I've searched around for this but couldn't really find anyone with this type of experience so I'm making this to see if anyone can help out. I got a 2009 TRD tacoma double cab.
Yesterday I noticed my truck feeling a little sluggish on the way to work but didn't think anything of it because I was due an oil change. So I got it changed yesterday and it still is kind of sluggish. I'm not sure how to describe it but ill try.

When I give it the gas, from a stop, it feels like it hesitates. Last night getting on the highway I gave it the gas and it hesitated then reved up and kinda took off. It feels like it's slow to take off and slow to switch gears. Like it's switching gears at higher rpm than normal. Is this my transmission slipping? Possibly related to the oil change? Can this be something with the rear differential?
I did a quick inspection of the drive line to see if anything was lose and couldn't find anything.

I don't know much about transmission problems and I've never had any trouble with this truck.

While checking I grabbed the drive shaft from the passenger side and tried turning it and moving it and it feels solid. While down there I burned my arm on the muffler and got a nice tattoo

    Any advice/comments is helpful.

Also while going over and overpass that I drive over regularly, it feels like the truck downshifts, or upshift idk, to make it over. It does this while in cruise control and it has never done that before

Are you sure they drained engine oil versus transmission fluid? It's happened before.

I'd check your engine oil level to confirm.

Edited - I see it was feeling sluggish prior to oil change. Disregard.

Does it feel like rpm's are going up higher than normal before it starts moving. What about reverse? Does feel like it has always felt when you put it in gear. Does rpms climb an is slowly starts moving almost like it is in neutral an then it goes in gear?

The reverse doesn't feel abnormal. It's just the take off and then the shifting between gears. Mostly the take off though. It just feels off like it's struggling to get power to the wheels. It doesn't feel like the engine is running rough either. It feels and sounds normal other than the fact that it feels slower. There isn't any CEL or anything on so that's why I ruled out spark plugs.

Could this be a bad gas issue?
I've also been getting worse gas mileage than normal

Does it rev up more than normal taking off. Or does it just feel sluggish an doesn't want to rev up.?

It will rev up more than normal. It usually switches gears around 2k rpm and now it's switching higher around 2.5k -3k rpm

I've been riding on 34 psi since I put them on. Anything higher and it gets too jumpy

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I think you're supposed to change the plugs every 30k

Sounds like it's in limp mode to me. Take it and have it scanned for codes.

But wouldn't limp mode throw a light?

    Agreed...Best advice you can get.

If it's not shifting until 2500 RPMs there's something wrong for sure...
