Hi guys. I have owned a pretaco since 93. It has 350k miles on it and debating upon replacing it with an 07. There us one at the local dealership but asking 13k with 125k miles. Crawled under it and the frame is bad, really bad, but I can fix that n the dealership claims there is a new frame on order for it. My question is all that electronics on it. Turn dial transfercase how well does it work n that e locker is it as good as my arb? Dont need a crew cab but it is what it is.any input would be greatly appreciated. Not a fan of complicated electrical systems.big fan of the k.i.s.s. theory.(keep it simple stupid)

They are good trucks. I had a 07 and it was Bullet proof. Very few issues. Only time it went to the dealer was for recall things. That is a fair price for the truck. I have no experience with either of the lockers so can't help you there. All in all the 07's were a great year.

Frame replacement is stupid expensive and time consuming. If the dealer has a frame on order, make sure they are swapping it as part of the deal, in writing. I had a few pre-tacoma trucks and really liked them. The 2nd gens are way more electronic-gizmo'd than those early trucks, but very reliable. 125k miles is nothing (except to the frame). The OEM electronic locker is good and reliable, does use a slightly smaller 8" rear end instead of the non-locker 8.4" rear end.

my 06 is a solid, solid ride! With a new frame, it should last for years.

So, I'm curious. For that 13k, do they hand you the truck and the frame and say, "have a nice day"? Or do you have to pay for the frame too, and do all the work? Also, there's a bunch of other parts that get replaced at the same time. Are those included?

It is worth noting that it is very easy and common to swap grills. Was one of the first things I did on my truck to get rid of the chrome.

But what model Prerunner? The grill surround is painted to match on the TRD Sport and all 2005-2011 Tacoma's have the same size grill.

Looks like a nice truck and a fair price, if they replace the frame. As others have said, I would make sure every thing is spelled out and in writing that the frame gets replaced under the recall. They may have told you, but see if they have an idea on when the frame will be in. I haven't had to deal with this issue, but have herd it can take a few months. Good luck with the purchase if you decide to go with it.

Edit: I made it to the part about the frame and must have spaced the rest. As far as the electronics go, Tacoma's seam to not have any problems. I have a few friends with older Tacoma's (04 and 08 I think) and they haven't had any problems that I know of. As for the locker goes I'm not sure, but I would think the ARB would be stronger.

If thats a 07 it has the newer frame with upgraded motor mounts.(05-06 had a weak motor mount problem). It looks like a TRD sport. Color match handle, grill, and mirrors, hood scoop, trd sport rim etc... so that means it has a mechanical LSD... so if the dealer is selling it for 13k with the frame replacement id say take it..

I've had my 06 for a year now and it's a champ. That's a good deal if they install it. You'll have to get a locker if you want one. Go with arb

Right???? This looks great. Mine is this clean too and it's an 06. Probably garaged when parked and good owner.
