y'all are making me regret selling the DR. Probably would've killed myself by now had I kept it, so it's not all bad. Speaking of which, if anyone is interested in some SUPERRR cheap dual sport riding gear ( pants, jacket, 2 helmets, and gloves all size L) shoot me a PM, and I can send you some pics.

Goggles are very nice. Very breathable. I only wear goggles. No visors offroad. Cheaper goggles tend to scratch easier but if you buy tear offs that isn't a big issue. They also may not have as good of a seal to the face. Just see what fits.

I don't wear knee braces just knee pads along with full mx boots.

Elbow pads are a little useless. I don't even wear them racing.

I had a guy give me some old hand-me-down MSR Reflex that I was going to use, but on one of the two of them, the plastic is all cracked.

I don't know, we have a lot of trees around here and rocks. I do a good job seeking them out

Meh I've played in the rocks as well. It hurts a little but really isn't a big deal imo.

After about 50mph, the wind moves them and they vibrate so bad you can't see shit. So they stay folded down...and keep me legal

    I always head check anyway.

Even the stock mirrors vibrated too much

For some other options (note that I have a WR20R, your options/success may vary)
    • DRC 161 mirrors - reasonably sturdy design, though once they are on they only fold in or out. No rotating.
    • Moto-Science KTM Ultimate folding mirrors: telescoping, rotating, folding. I don't feel they have as great of a build quality as the DRC for a higher cost (I stripped out one of the bolt holes while installing), but the concept is better. More vibrations than stock or DRC, but it is still usable. The telescoping is kinda the nicest part.
    • Doubletake mirrors: I haven't had them, though there's a lot of people who swear by them. I like that they are easily adjustable and parts are easy to replace, but I think I would be spending a LOT of time fiddling with getting the mirror in the right spot. (Good review from a KTM 690 rider here)

Anyone know how to wire their own turn signals etc for converting a wr450 to a dual sport.... looked online and many seem difficult and the Baja designs kit is like 500!

    Any help appreciated

...No. it'll be regestered in az and ridden there most of the time. But sometimes ridden in California and the general consensus is that they will hassle you big time if you don't have certain things.

Don't think I'll run turn signals or horn. But I'll have to have one mirror and brake light

Just do the tusk kit from rockymountainatvmc. If you don't need everything order what you need or call and they will get it right.
