Well that is true. I'm a body shop consultant and we set air bags off once in awhile. They will go 50 ft in the air.

    Not really-
Most are just safe and pics of expedient access to a handgun in your truck. (Other than the dude strapping his gat to an airbag).

Race gun glock is interesting, and doclolo's pretty sporty, but I suspect from his profile he knows what he's doing.

You don't have to be a navy seal to be prepared to be thoughtful in how defend yourself. You do have to be thoughtful and train...

console vault, with magnetic mount inside. practice a known combo so you can open it quickly. depending on where your truck lives, I do not think storing a gun unlocked in any vehicle is anything but asking to file a stolen gun report. my neighbor had his judge (stored under the dash) stolen from his range rover.

I've honestly never heard of needing a security container for home, although it is undeniably a good idea to have one. CA gun laws are insane and always changing, it's hard for even cops to know/stay up to date

For civilians, to an extent. Can't have a loaded firearm in a vehicle. Even having one unloaded with a mag next to it can cause issues. Obviously LE didn't have that regulation, but new laws require us to secure it if we leave it in a vehicle.

It's very excessive. They don't want your motivation for getting a gun to be going after your ex. That being said I know people whose Ex said they were a danger during the interview. One woman claimed her ex threatened her in court, straight up lie and he still got his lisence. They just had to weigh each person individually. Some guys explain that previously thier wife wouldn't let them get a gun. Now they are divorced they are free to do as they chose.

In Canada, self-defence is NOT a reason to get a gun and if you explain that as part of your motivation they will deny you instantly.

Some firearms have to be transported unloaded, with a trigger lock or similar, in a locked case. So it's not going to be easily accessable like this thread. Closer to Cali rules.

But if the gun was embedded in your knee cap because of a air bag deployment that would hurt...

I agree, but I'm a consultant that works all over CA- in fact it was an incident in Pocoima that led me to CCW. I'd just like to lock it up

Before I was a consultant I ran a large chain of auto body shops- one of my shops got a corolla with rear end damage- we found a 357, and 500 rounds in the trunk. We called the owner to come pick up the pistol....swear it was a late 70's grandma who said she goes to range at least twice a week....:)

That's crazy man. Self defense not being a reason for having a gun just doesn't compute in my mind.

Responsible Restricted and Non-Restricted PAL holder here. Really the Canadian laws are pretty easy to follow. I could see why an American could be frustrated here but as someone who lived through a school shooting that ended primarily because it was done with a legal long rifle that didn't have more than 5 rounds in it I can appreciate the Canadian laws.

Canadian gun laws are an ounce of prevention for a tonne of reward. No, it doesn't stop criminals from high jacking your vehicle but there is a reason you never hear about domestic murder suicides or 5+ victim shootings in Canada. Most guns here are legally owned, as someone else posted, and those guns are kept out of trouble. Does it solve the problem of gun violence? Not totally. Does Canada have a pretty good track record for gun crime in the last 20 years over the USA? Yup. I've seen the million and one statistics thrown out there and when you really break it down people will always find a way to hurt other people. However, again, if a few easy to follow laws saves one person I'm okay with it. That's probably why I'm a Canadian lol, and I don't have a problem with people who don't agree with our laws.

I will point out as a part of that statement that as gun violence falls off in countries other violence definitely goes up. There is a reason why the RCMP have switched to armor that can stop both a 9 mm and a knife blade and a reason why cops in Britain only wear a knife proof vest now on standard patrol. People who want to hurt other people who are not necessarily vicious criminals, just people who have snapped, will always find a way. Gun laws do not limit violence, they only take away a single option for quick an easy killing by someone who has lost their marbles or stolen a legal firearm.

You can't keep a loaded handgun in your house in Canada. So a gun isn't really your greatest option for self defense. There are rules around double locking any handguns or restricted firearms up. Good luck unlocking a trigger lock and a combo safe in time once you hear the door bust open.

There is one exception. In areas like mine that are deemed rural we can keep one long gun, ie a non restricted firearm, loaded in a legal fashion in an accessible place to use against varmints. I don't do this because I'm pretty close to a town and the rules get pretty grey about whether there are any dangerous varmints around here. That being said most non restricted firearms are a poor choice in close quarters so the point is relatively moot.

    Enjoy your handguns Merica :)
