I built this wicked flat deck a while ago and intended to build a headache rack but the project just got pushed aside. Well the time has come to get this shit done so here it starts.

The way I craft things is to let the vehicle's shape and angles dictate how I build. I wish I had someone to take pictures earlier to show this process. As this moves forward I hope to catch some of this.

I built mine on the table then installed it on the truck

It was much easier to paint as well

    What ever works

I'm just tacking it together in place. 4 big bolts remove the whole deck for weld out and painting.

Not worried about splatter hitting the glass and paint or you removed the wet rags or towels

I have a welding blanket I could use but I honestly bought this truck to thrash it. The body is all beat up from trees and stuff. She's all scratched and bashed to hell.

How much for the flatbed if I go pick it up?:D
I'm serious, but at the same time I'm not, I've always wanted one on my Taco. Due to limited resources, that want isn't doable by me, and I'm not sure they sell them online. haha?

I don't weld much for other people any more. I'd build one but it wouldn't be cheap. I'll have to post a tour of it when its done. She's even tricked out with a hidden tool box.

Found a few spare hours today so made a little bit of progress.

Making some fancy side braces coming off the rack down to the deck. This will also house the fuel filler spout. Lots of fussy little angled bits, really soaks up a lot of time .
