I got one from Amazon. The bomber took a mean tumble down a hill climb and still survived so far.

I think I toasted my steering servo. Played with the bomber in some pretty deep water and now the steering is really slow and it gets stuck even after I recentered the horn.

The ESC says waterproof. Hoping the motor is alright though

Went to look at one. The only one was a demo that was pre-sold and still boxed. The store manager opened it and I was able to take a look. It's pretty sweet. I think I'm gonna get one. About the only comment is the axles are much more complicated than most anything else, the shocks can be moved to four different positions to change the chassis length.

I should buy some rocks for the yard ;)

If you can find a suitable toy, diecast, or large enough model you can pull a mold off of it. Then use that mold as your mold for the lexan body.

Can the mold have intricate details? Will it vacuform detailed lines?

I pulled some Wraith body panels from a thick acrylic. They eventually shattered but showed me some techniques for the next attempts. For the best details it needs to be a female form.

Small box with a piece I plywood full of holes on it. Shop vac for vacuum in the side of the box and a hole in side of the box for regulating pressure that I slide a small scrap of wood across as needed. I made the molds with plaster of Paris, but male molds. I taped poster board to the edges of the sheet and stapled those to the plywood. Very crude setup and using a hot air gun to make pliable.

Whenever I try it again I'll make a similar box but the top will be shaped like a drawer. And the sheet will be attached similar but on a frame that slides into the 'drawer from the top. So as I heat it it'll self lower and I think would take shape better. The corners are the difficult part. The heat gun allowed me to get a lot of details an oven heat wouldn't allow. Also let me work it as needed to eliminate some creasing and fold over. Granted the material I used was very thick, too.

Drilling holes through the mold into the detailed areas will help pull the lexan in better.

On the subject of bodies, I thought it might be cool to use this as a mold:

I just finished building one...haven't run it yet, but hoping to this weekend. I still need to finish up the body panels, not sure how I want to paint them. Pic here.... https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/anyone-into-r-c.26269/page-706#post-15123949 Since this pic was taken, i've upgraded the front end with aluminum shock towers. which got rid of the stock battery tray in the rear, and I can put the smaller lipo packes up front under the hood.

The TRX4 is a beast. Even the transmitter has extra buttons :)

Charging plus, I need some batteries for the transmitter. Thought I'd have time to grab that stuff tonight but no bueno. Always figures that when the fun stuff comes, there's no time-in this case, I'm sure it's gonna be worth it.
